Onewa T3 lane blocked this morning

Had to edge out into the lane of cars on Onewa Road this morning to get passed an accident. There was a car that had driven right into the side of a bus at a bus stop in the T3 lane, it's front left hand corner was wedged tight into the bus's rear wheel well. Gave me something to think about as I rode on down to the motorway, but I just couldn't think of how the dumb cager managed it.

Probably something along the lines of:

"Oh, there's nothing coming from behind in the transit lane, I'll scoot in there and whistle ahead of all this stationary traffic. Opps. didn't notice that bus at the bus stop right beside me, I was more worried about motorcyclists coming through my blind spot."

Hopefully there were three people in the car.....otherwise that's another ticket for there troubles.

I'm sick and tired of having single occupant cagers in the T2/T3 lanes.

When I did the AT/ACC commuter safety course the other weekend we had a representative from AT and I asked him about the camera they have on Onewa Rd T3 lane, when asked if they issue tickets for less than 3 in a car in the T3 lane he said, "Yes". When asked if it was hundreds a day he said, "Not quite."
