Meekey_Mouse is coming back! For a while

    Hey all!

So some of you may remember me, I used to haunt these forums 8+ years ago

I'm coming back in January with Mark to show him around and see more of NZ myself. The Forgotten Highway is on the list, any other must do roads? We're hoping to get DRZ400's or something similarly road/dirt capable so off the beaten path roads are fine, I'm just not in for bush bashing/single track riding.

    Cheers,

    Jaz

Also... If any one knows of any such bikes for sale... Post them up! I will be stalking around in the trading section too

Welcome back Meekey! Back roads from South Auckland to Raglan are fantastic & of course great routes on the back roads from Raglan further south, particularly coming into to Waitomo from the back roads, just fantastic! From there the main road to New Plymouth is also awesome. Then of course you are close the Stratford end of SH43, the FWH, THE best road in the North Island.

If you want to explore the gravel roads, have a look here: http://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/g...island-tracks/

Depends how far you want to go into the gravel / off sealed roads, I'd definitely say the Motu, trip around East Cape etc.

Thanks guys! Gremlin, that link is pretty much exactly what I was looking for... You're a legend! We're not sure on which bikes we'll end up on as of yet, so that will dictate to a degree the roads we do. In saying that, people go around the world on scooters/harley's etc so no excuses

We'll partly be doing the whole, point and go "technique" and partly planned routes... Great to get local knowledge on must do roads and even better, off the beaten track must do roads/things to see.

    Appreciate the help guys
