If they could do that in a commodore, would it reduce the biker deaths caused by police?

I should have been more specific, for the less fortunate out there.

    It's the motorcycle standard.

But I think you know that, and just wanted to dredge an old topic for a whinge.

Just wondering if there had been an internal edict to stop that shit happening? We haven't seen silly U-turns happening for a while.

They still happen. I suspect luck has favoured the practise.

    That's a heeling trial.

They do a thing called an Operational Assessment from time to time.

It includes pumping all fluids to one side to see how far the ship heels, then pump it back to the other side. It's a bitch trying to have a shower when the ship is at 40 degrees.

The other trial is a full speed, full wheel turn. Awesome. Wreaks havoc in the galley.

Right... never mind that we have a govt agency encouraging us to do one of the most dangerous manourveres out there... which should be unnecessary if a prudent prepared motorist has planned their journey and read road signs correctly...
Anyhow though in the video the rider is doing it WRONG. Three major fails before hes even halfway through turn. NZTA's and ACC's own safety website "Drive" says you should:

1.Check your mirrors, signal left and pull in as close to the kerb as you can.
2.Check your mirrors and signal right for at least three seconds.
3.Look for cars, cyclists and pedestrians in your mirrors and over your shoulder.

The rider in video fails on first three counts. And the look over the shoulder should be done stationary with arse twisted in seat for proper view. I doubt in the video how far or if at all he could see anything about to hit him in meaningful useful time knowing how poor perihipal vision froma helmet is.

Your comments fail to grasp one thing........context.

Out in the street the things you mention are relevant. But in the video, it's done for a specific reason. To encourage people to expand their skills. In a safe environment.

Nobody said that anyone should go out into traffic and get themselves filmed.

Still, never let context stand in the way of a good whinge.

The Context is nanny state telling you your shite at riding and need to train cause we're paying too much for injuries from accidents where u turn is mentioned on the claim form.
I'll accept a LOT of riders probably drop their bikes during U turns, done it myself twice on steep surfaces, didn't hurt myself though.
BUT the bigger danger of becoming Hamburger is being snotted by a motorist behind you that you've not seen who doesn't know your u turning.
99.99% of the time when bikes are doing uturns its probably going to be on a public road.....

So just like ATGATT principle, ACC should be reinforcing the instinct of indicating your actions to other road users and being fully aware of your surroundings.

I'm sorry you are having a bad day.

The competition is a bit of fun. You'd do well to see it as such.

Of course, your views are worthy and it's interesting to hear them. It just seems that you are sitting waiting for something to be annoyed about.
