Was it someone from KB? Dropped Harley on Newton Road, Ak

Was it someone from here? Around 3.55pm, at the lights on the Newton Road overpass of SH16. The bit where you head down the hill from Eden Terrace and there's the tyre place on the left, golf warehouse on the right, 100m further down you turn left to head out west on SH16...

Heading home (in the cage) and someone on a big arm-chair look alike Harley was bouncing on their front brake beside me as we slowed for the lights. Grab, release, grab, release, etc... anyway, it looked like he was having fun. I didn't pay too much more attention until traffic was moving... he'd moved over in to my lane (about 1-2 cars in front) and the big flat-bed truck in front of us decided to jam on his brakes despite the green light.

I have no idea why the truck stopped but next thing I know this guy (and his bike) were on their side... I think he managed to jump off sideways somehow and the bike must have been resting on something because it was at about a 45 degree angle without falling over. I pulled over and helped the guy right the thing (damn it was heavy!!!)... but was just curious if it was someone from here. Why? Because you'd be the first KB'er I've met so far...

And out of curiosity... how did the bike stay (kind-of) upright without a stand? And lastly, do those things have satellite TV...? Or just short-wave? Two huge antennae on the back of the bike...

    Cool

Most likely if it was a Harley it would have had a 'footplate' instead of a footpeg, that tends to stop it going right over.

A 'footplate' is a big metal thing that the whole foot can rest on...

Thats the best way I can describe a footplate.

Hmmm that fact that it had two antennae on the back... maybe it was a Goldwing bike.... they are huge...

That could well be it... the whole bike was pretty shiney with lots of bling From a sports perspective anyway... although, personally... I'd much rather ride 800km with a heated seat and an arse massager than on my little narrow seat.

could have been a full decker too....my partners bikes are harleys and they both have arials too.

the bike might have had crash/roll bars that prevent the bike from going right over, your leg from being pinned under it, and the fairing/hardbags etc from being too badly damaged. yes, also might have had floorboards/footplates.

They have engine bars and bag bars at the rear. Worth their weight in broken bling, as we found out at Rawene last year. They are a heavy bitch though.
    Another thing Harley's got right.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.
