Seriously, if he's done it twice to you, then he's doing it to other bikes as well. I saw a prick in an Audi S3 try to push around a learner on a little 250 yesterday, when we got to the next lights I pulled along side and gave him a talking to. Hopefully problem sorted. Problems don't just go away, bullies don't one day grow up into actual humans, the meek won't inherit jack shit.

Would it be fair to say you're a young buck with an attitude that rides at 100K+ ph While splitting traffic which itself is moving at 90Kph, would it?
    Too easy isn't it?
Happens, get around them and carry on in a sensible and courteous manner, all will give you the room you need then? Not!
Be ready, stay alive, live to ride another day and don't worry about being right, worry about getting there in one piece.

Shit happens like this all the time. It's only the Go-Pro generation who are making it out to be a big deal because they have video evidence and somehow feel a 21st century need to spread it around as if the rest of us actually care. Newsflash. We don't. Give the twat some room, go around them, forget about it and move on.

If you keep worrying about what happened behind you you won't see what is going on ahead and then you really are fucked. But I am sure it will make good video.

As a trucker and biker I see two sides to this.

As a trucker I can't stand it when bikers duck and weave thru traffic that is moving 50+ especially in the narrowed sections with road works happening. One temporary rider I've seen a few times now rides a 250 or 300 Ninja, with L plate to boot, ducking thru traffic with a differential speed of 30+ so accident waiting to happen. But hey, if this chap loses it and gets run over by my unit I'll likely not lose any sleep over it.

As a rider, if one is dicking around to the point a truck can pull a blocking move, then I'd suggest there's something hinkey in the situational awareness and forward planning areas. Yeah ok, maybe I'm a little restrained in my lane splitting, but I've not had many weird moves by other traffic pulled on me while lane splitting. The vast majority of such events are rather predictable, and like Berries already said, deal with it and get on with life.

I can deal with it, and my life is fine thanks, hope yours is going well also.

As a motorcyclist, and previous driver of trucks and other heavy vehicles, I have observed some weird behaviour on the roads, but nothing like this.

Both of my interactions with this truck happened when the traffic was moving between 0 and 40kp/h max, my speed was not much higher than the traffic flow, and the truck driver only started his aggressive driving once I was past his trailer, so unless you're willing to slide underneath a truck and trailer like a stunt rider in a hollywood movie (not possible of course), you're not actually able to avoid it at all.

Of the 60+ other trucks that I pass on my daily commute, none move an inch in my direction like this. A lot of them actually move in the other direction...

I'm not new to riding/filtering/splitting, so am well aware of what is going on around me, and this was quite unpredictable behaviour. So much so in fact, that this is the only time I have seen this from a truck, and posted it here to see if it was normal. Seems it isn't...

Video is probably a better medium for this, as the pics don't seem to get the situation across, and just invite imaginative specualtion instead.

It's quite clear when looking at the pictures. The truck is in the centre of its own lane when approaching, then for absolutely no reason at all it is suddenly having trouble filling in the colouring book between the lines, and instead is inviting itself over for dinner. Very friendly, but not tonight thanks.

If this is as out of character as you reckon, how about hitting Neville Bros up about it then? That's what I'd want if I was the transport manager...

Thank you for responding to my reply.

These questions have been asked and answered earlier in this thread, and it was really only ever supposed to be a simple thread telling a quick story and asking if this was a common occurance or not for others, as it was the first time I'd ever encountered it for myself.

I would've just contacted the company involved and skipped making the thread if I wanted or cared for them to do something about the one truck/driver out of the thousands that I've passed so far that did something different, but didn't know if it was par for the course when commuting the Auckland motorway as a motorcycle rider or not. I'd been doing it for a while, but I could've just been lucky not to have experienced it myself until then.

Who better to ask than KB members who might do the same commute, and had done it for longer?

It also seems that some other forum members have already tried contacting the company themselves anyway, although via Facebook, but it didnt seem to do much. If it happens a third time I might contact the company directly, but the frequency/chance of this happening again is pretty slim. I do a lot of k's though, so maybe, depending on how far the truck moves out of its lane, or any other untoward behaviour.

Funnily enough, the second time I posted pics was just supposed to be a cheeky update about 12,000km later, as the next and only other time it occured, it just happened to be the exact same driver/company.

So it seems it's not really a common thing associated with trucks, but rather this driver/company. Probably just driver though... as no one (or not many) here seems to have had any similar experiences with trucks - although it could be debated wether or not many who posted here actually ride that often or far, or in the same circumstances, especially compared to how often they post drive-by comments loaded with assumptions anyway.

I guess I ruffled some feathers.

Sorry KB, I'll refrain from posting new threads, or updating this thread, and just get back to riding my motorcycle.

Thanks for all reading and posting,

    Au Revoir.

If you are that upset why don't you go to the trucking company and talk to the manager?

Son, this place here is KiddieBiker. If you aren't ruffling some feathers, then the night nurses have fluked it and gotten all the meds right. Don't apologise, it only encourages the idiots.

You're polite and well written. Keep that part up. Plus logical. Which will annoy many of the inmates. There's something about sitting in front of keyboards that brings out the fucktard in some people.

One minute he's trying to kill you nek minnit your saying its not even bad enough for you to care to contact the company or police even....
You should make yourself aware of NZ defamation laws, you've publicy slandered this company and the driver. Even if was doing as you describe its illegal for you to publicly describe the company and driver as reckless.
Welcome to the internet... BTW I've already been down this road, I posted some frames showing another truck passing me in an improper fashion... funny thing was forum members were split 50/50 if it was normal behaviour which blew my mind.....
So for future reference its either bad enough to notify police or just suck it up and move on with life... personally I've given up on *555 and let Darwin take its course...

Wordsworth, publish and be damned. If it's true, then it's not defamatory. He has video footage. Simple.

There's also the ideal of honest comment. For example, if I say it's my honest opinion that Axkle isn't right in the head, then Axkle can't bring a successful action so long as I can prove it's my honest opinion. Clearly, it has to have some validity. Which I think would be easy enough to prove.

Some of the bush lawyers on this site need to go to school and get qualifications. Like I did. And then ignore them because drinking and fucking were more fun than a life wearing a suit. As you were.

Explains quite a lot. It's good to have some informed comment on here.

    Good, but uncommon.

99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name. But that's just my honestly held opinion.
