    eek

Hi Mulletman! That would be great. I have not got a clue what to be looking out for! I guess i wanted the bike checked over and feedback on the condition (in the flesh so to speak). If you know anything about bikes and can bring that to bear when taking the bike in that would be of great help. Do you know this Costa fellow? I did a search about the company on this website and there was some bad feedback floating around from a few years ago and the use of parallel importers in general. I am pretty naieve to be honest - it just looks like a nice bike in the pics and the price is ok. Sorry to be so vague!

    ive actually ridden it...

i was shopping around for a bike a while ago and was going to trade my zx10r on it from him.. Mid Januart

good condition given it's age.. clean as youd expect from a showroom.

guy is ok but not fantastic to deal with and his prices are a tad high for what he sells, ...

    otherwise.

no knocks and anything funny suspension wise seems good, motor pulled well abd no rattles or funny noise.. hydralic clutch was a bit grabby but i've heard that is common.

hope my feedback helps... otherwise the above might have some more recent feedback...

Overall the bike is tidy for its age, some minor corrosion on alloy bits so needs a bit of polishing, its as tho the bike lived near the sea or in a damp garage, its a Jap import so may have sat outside, couldnt see under the farings so who knows.

Needed a jump start but sounded ok to me when running , i didnt ride it, its got newish looking Conti motions front and rear, oil in brake and clutch looked as though it needs changing.

    Good luck either way.

Mulletman! Thanks so much for taking the time and making the effort to do this on my behalf. I am thinking i wont go for it at this stage. Sat on one in Hamilton today and just think i will struggle with the full on sports position so am now thinking more along the lines of sports tourer. If i am ever down in ChCh i will be sure to shout you a beer and if your ever up this way make sure you drop me a line as i will always try and repay the favour. Thanks again. PS Do you really have a mullet?

this sucker flew down to see it.

I went down and back the same day with the intention of buying it based on an approximate trade in on my beast. I gave a very full and exact description plus photos however on arrival Costa thought it had ASB !. God knows why, he had not done his home work or bothered to double check before I spent $500 on flights. He then revised his offer minus several grand. I felt extremely peeved off, I asked him to call me later with a decent offer but never heard from him again. This guy is unprofessional and needs to realize treating people like this is not acceptable. The bike is actually very tidy however my faith in this guys ethics would question purchasing from him. He did not even offer me a lift to the airport !!

If you like the idea of an Aprilia but not the sports position of the Mille, try a Tuono. Mille engine, chassis, ecu etc, but with high bars and smaller fairing. Very reliable (bar a few well known and easy to sort electrical connector issues) and helpful forum resources, plus that Mille engine is awesome. (3 months into owning mine and riding in all weathers as it's my daily driver - Sometimes it is hard to keep the front wheel on the ground)

sent from my phone (so scuze auto correct typos)
"For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen" Douglas Adams (1952-2001) - not riding a TUONO then!

mate, i hear ya. i bought a bike in good faith from them, unsighted except for the trademe add previously posted whilst i was 'in the market' for a bike. He proclaimed the bike to be, and i quote "in immaculate condition and fully serviced". Well, from the photo's and in person, yeah, she looks awesome. But the so called "full service" they gave her was nothing more than an oil change. (and yes, i have ALL the receipts from my mechanic to prove the following - in case you don't know your NZ Law) I received the bike, complete with the following: fork leak, fork oil grossely under volume (in excess of 100ml on one) - both forks, fork guide bush sloppy play, pinch bolts LHS front axle only finger tight, LHS front wheel bearing rusted, chain looser than a wizards sleeve, TWO factory recalls NOT rectified (it's an '02 model imported this year), 1x airbox snorkel torn and without retaining washer, rear wheel conical washer cracked, and, to top all that off, a leaking radiator. Additionally, when i later asked to have the Warrant of Fitness check sheet AND detailed service sheet sent to me, there was NOTHING forthcomming.

It is my opinion, they showed my bike no love bar the oil change. I accept that i own some responsibility for the purchase and can accept minor repairs will be necessary for the age of the bike, BUT, I TOO QUESTION THE ETHICS of someone who is resistant to assisting in covering the full cost (yes, including LABOUR as per the CONSUMER GARUANTEES ACT) of a machine they claim to be in such a condition, and,has NOT provided any servicing/warrant details as proof of ANY servicing/checks conducted by MID to allay my frustrations AS REQUIRED BY LAW AT THE REQUEST OF THE CONSUMER!

Truth - a complete defence is provided if the defendant can satisfy the court that the allegedly defamatory statement was true, or not materially different from the truth.

Sadly Costa is a dick ! ...... no people skills and when we agreed on a trade price for my bike next day changed his mind and demanded I take it to his mechanic to have it checked out after he went over it with a fine tooth comb....walked away and have,nt been back since which is a pity as he has some nice bikes......
