    Stolen 2016 KTM RC390 - Auckland Central

    Rego B5FJW. VIN VBKJYJ406GC240089

Went overseas for 3 weeks, got back today and no more bike to greet me when I came back

Stolen from my Auckland CBD apartment secure parking (resident only access). It had an Abus disc lock on the rear wheel and a Grip Lock on it but it appears they were defeated with an angle grinder. The bike was covered up as well and impossible to identify without removing the cover.

While not reflected in the first 3 pictures, the bike has a KTM powerparts comfort seat (4th pic) that would make it somewhat distinctive.

Fully insured but FFS some real low life c***s out there.

Would appreciate any help you guys can give.

Secure parking, disc lock and grip lock. FFS is no one safe?

One thing I have going for me is that just about every stolen road bike I've heard about was either in Auckland or Chch.

I am completely baffled. I have owned it for about 6 months and done about 7000kms on it. During that time, I kid you not I have only seen one other RC390 rider on the road. It's not exactly common here like a GSXR or CBR to make stealing it for parts worthwhile. Why would someone put so much effort into stealing it FFS?

I may yet buy an actual Harley though so there is that. I like Sportsters - they're "sporty"... or a VTR1000 SP1 or 2.

Is there a walk in gate to the car park? I use a 'secure' car park as well but those gates have magnetic locks and you can just kick them open with a well placed hoof, or you just run a trolley over the magnetic door opener to let someone in after being buzzed in the front door

Any security cameras in the building?
I fucking hate thieves. If they are caught (doubtful) be sure to see to them with a blow torch and a pair of pliers...

Yep there is a walk in up a flight of stairs (need a key fob swipe thingy) to the cark park as well. Only way vehicles (including a bike) can get in and out are via the roller doors which you need a remote to open. No signs of physical damage on the roller doors.

Thing with CCTV is you need to know the time an event happened. Tried to use my CCTv once to help out with neighbours burglary, hours trawling throught o see nothing....
Only really good if you think you know who the offender is, really hard to ID people unless expensive hi end system.
Anyone buying I recommend 8 cameras as minimum and have one close to road/driveway to get number plates.
