I am sure you can get good oil for way less

That's the G/F riding, I've hit reserve below 100km..... being a hoon. Not exactly a tourer but hilarious on the appropriate roads. What oil you using? I've settled on motul 710 (I think) and it smells nice but not as nice as Castrol TT. Castrol fouls the powervalve more pootling around and I had more residue from the pipe.
I'm using Motul 710, I get quite a bit of gunk some days round the pipe.

GSXR-600, $22.00 for gas. If I am "sensible" (and probably about $50 worth of tyres...)

Speaking of which, they have two spots for camera vans, there on average once a week, Straight near birdlings flat, next to lake Elesmere and straight just out of Tai Tapu on the Akaroa side. I don't speed very often, so have never had a ticket, but I still slow down to 90 when I see them oddly.

Wait till super cheap auto or repco have their oil sales and you can pick up 4l of TTS for about $60

The Suzuki Boulevard M50 (at 100 km/hr max where appropriate for admiring the view) does 4.4 L/100 km.

Depending on the last decimal on the price of regular that'd be around $13.50 and all done in armchair comfort.

My hyosung gets 350 kilometers from 10 litres. So around it'd probably cost me around 10 bucks

So how much fuel do you use for your bike to go to Akaroa and back?

What is the bike you ride too?

What about when you drive under pressure? Have you thought about that?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

$20 on the 450, but I very rarely go "just" to akaroa

Plus ~$2.80 for engine oil (changed every 700km)

I track all my mileage, and my Speed Triple does 6.6l/100km on average on 95+ petrol. Not fantastic, and drinks a small amount of oil too.

It's about the same economy as my 800kg, 1.2l car, but pretty different acceleration.

That's just a bit thirstier than mine, I don't check regularly and when I did it it would have been on a trip so... If I worked out everything that motorcycling cost I would've quit long ago. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

My S3 doesn't take any oil between services.

For most people the Akaroa ride could be expected to be a bit more thisty than a cruise on the open road - even if the cruising was at slightly(?) illegal speeds.

(On second thoughts there's not *that* much hill, it not like SH43, The Gentle Annie or...)
