Interesting thing with some of these replies is the L/100km being mentioned aren't qualified, for example if I rode my KDX 200 on the flat for 160km I would have about 6.6 L/100km so 160km would use about 11L of fuel or $23, plus $11 of oil, so probably $34, that is a 15% difference due to the hill.

I don't even fill the tank on the DR now, I just put a petrol soaked rag near where the air filter used to be (so much power it sucked it straight thru the engine, lucky the battery was attached by its cables or it was next to go) and it runs on the vapours....

After owning 2 carbureted (200cc & 800cc) bikes and then riding larger fuel injected bikes, its amazing the difference that fuel injection makes with fuel consumption.

Erm, I don't know. I fill up when the fuel light comes or the odo gets to around 180km. I pay by eftpos and don't even look at the pump.

Operating cost is only an issue when I need chain and sprockets at the same time as a new tyre and the wife is in one of her moods.
