It is a sad but enviable day in motorcycling history….The early 90’s “Disco” coloured Dainese leathers have finally been laid to rest – cause “Daddy” has some new tweeds!
Ah the memories and adventures they have seen…100,000 + k’s of New Zealand’s finest roads from town and country to the big smoke they have seen it all. They have received untold abuse from the odd “Spill” from the early years of an enthusiastic semi adolescent thinking he was an up and coming “GP Superstar”…To the later years containing high speed poo fragments from many high speed brown undie moments in Jaffa land traffic.
They have graced many a machine including – GSXR250, RGV250, ZXR250, 888 SP2, 916, TL1000 and finally the SP1. They have given this fella stella service and asked little in return and with that I cannot complain…(If only I was wearing them when the TL incident occurred)…
They were then taken out of a musty old retirement box covered in mould and dusted off when the SP1 arrived – and it was off on the first KB ride when the cruel taunt’s began. They just didn’t understand you - the rude remarks and finger pointing…”oooo look at the colours……”. People can be so cruel to leathers that are different…
Who cares what other people think of you – you have been my trusty companion thru all these years of motorcycling hardship’s and joyous moments, your memory will live on….
RIP my friend, it’s been wicked.
