    A question from my son

    We all know that Dads know everything - yeah right.

    Joshua asked a question I could not answer.

    "Are there any bikes that have a hazard light switch like the one you find in a car?"

    My guess was that maybe BMW or Harley - but I said I'd put it to the experts...

    Yup, my 98 TDM 850 Yammie has hazards. Used them yesterday when I came around a corner to find a herd of horses. Had no effect on them whatsoever.

    My Yamaha XSR700 has that switch as well. Given that it shares DNA with MT-07 and Tracer, they probably have them too.

    BMWs with paddle indicators, press both to activate hazards. Newer non-paddles are a separate switch I think.
    CB919 has a slide toggle on the right control block for hazards.

    Because of the event work I often do, I wouldn't buy a bike without hazards now.

    My 1985 BMW K100 RS had them. Now here's the interesting thing.... I'm given to understand that BMW had the wiring loom set up for hazard lights but never got round to installing an actual switch! Mine had one when I bought it second hand in 1993 which I assumed was standard. Apparently not, given what I've since read so assume the original owner fitted one. Why BMW left it off is a mystery. Anyone know the reason?

    Both my 2004 Honda NT650's [Honda Deauville] have a right handle bar separate switch to activate the hazard lights - won't work with the key off;

    and the 2011 F650GS BMW [actually the 800cc water cooled twin] has hazards if you push both indicator switches together.

    Yep. My GSX does. So does my wife's Gladius.

    Interesting! I'll have to see if I have any old photos as I'm pretty sure that my switch layout was different from your photo!

    Late model Harley Davidson have them. You just hold both turn signals in until both start to blink
