    Have you tried ear plugs?
I've just started using them and they make heaps of difference.

$700 will get you a Shoei Raid2, XR1000, Z1. Several different models of HJC. All great helmets and there'll be change from most of them.
Correct fit is more important than fashion though, try some different brands.

why don't you go round all the shops you can, try on as many as you can, and see which fits the best and the most comfortable (even test ride them), then see (for that model) which is the best deal you can get.. This is what I'm gonna be doin soon.. spend a saturday just trying different lids for my budget..

Shoei XR1000. I was going to sell the Trophy because of the wind noise from the fairing till I got my XR.

I've got a Shoei Raid, very quiet and very comfortable. I was lucky enough to score it for $399 on special, but would happily have paid more for it. With earplugs it is amazingly quiet, but even without earplugs (tried it on the way home once) it is quieter than my previous Shoei.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Don't buy an Arai. Great helmets - but they're as noisy as a rugby team in a whore house.

    From a Schuberth si test

    Noise
This is one area in which we're sorely disappointed by the S1. Not only is the S1 not the "quietest helmet in the world", it's not even close. The low-frequency booming noises that are usually a result of turbulence around a helmet's neck area are relatively well controlled, but the real culprit are the S1's top rear exhaust vents. They create a noisy, high frequency whistle that starts at around 30 mph. Placing a hand over the opening for the exhaust vents completely eliminates the noise, so there's no question where it's coming from.

I currently wear a Shoei Raid 2 and it's a dramatic improvement on the previous HJC's and Nolans that I've owned in the past. Comfy, nice and lightweight, rain doesn't trickle down the inside of the visor, and reasonably quiet on the open road!

What Lou says about correct fitment should be a most important factor in your choice.
