Anyone had dealings with the owner of Motorcycle Import Direct.(COSTA)
I'm collecting evidence against him selling faulty and damaged motorbikes.

    Interesting.

He usually has a selection of very tidy low km bikes in there.

    I know nothing else.

I came close. Told another rider I was going to go buy a bike they had listed, he had his mate tell me his horror story. Real or not, it was enough to put me off even going in for a look.

His story was that he came down from Nelson (on a bus, poor guy) thinking he'd be riding home. He was told the price of the bike, was told it was ready to go, etc.. Showed up and found the bike had incurred extra costs (ORC+Service) and wouldn't be 'ready' for a few days. He called in to work sick for the next couple of days. But days turned into a week, then a bit over.

When he was eventually able to ride away on the thing, he didn't even make it out across town. Had no luck returning it, had to pay another shop/person for some work on it. Arrived back at work where he was given a warning for not supplying a Doctors Cert for the extended leave. And bike ran like crap for three months until he sold it for a loss.

They may not be what actually happened, but that was the story. Haven't run into the guy since.

I happily walked around the corner and paid a slightly higher price for piece of mind.

For every I got ripped of story told there is 99 untold success stories. Who wants to rant about being happy anyway.

Just saying due to the poster joining to spread bad news and not talk bikes or tell a good yarn.

Your mate's mate is either full of shit, or he's a fuckin mug.

Always irks me just how willing people are to spread round a story about how shit a company / person etc is, despite said story being 3rd, 4th, 5th hand, and not being supported with concrete evidence.

The guy has been in christchurch selling motorbikes for at least 10 years I know of....

He wouldn't be able to be still in business if he would be that bad....
    Not in Christchurch.
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

Good luck with that, I haven't bought a bike off him but he leaves a bad taste in my mouth .

What a loathsome wanker, he would be the worst bike shop in the country. I went to look at a bike a while ago and asked if I could sit on it.

    Triumph Tiger

He said...'Well only if you're thinking about buying' I said ' Why would I be here if I wasn't ? ' His reply was' Well, Ok but don't scuff you boots on the side and damage it' in a threatening voice. At that point I said 'don't worry about it, mate I won't bother' and started to walk away.

He said something as I was walking out the door and I stopped and said 'what was that ? '

He said 'I've seen your type in here before' and hurried back into his office . I was speechless..

I'm surprised the Greek wanker is still in business, as before, best of luck

What? My 'type'? You mean genuine customers walking out of your shop to go spend their money elsewhere? Yeah I bet you have.

I was an average bloke with a shirt and a pair of jeans on mate, He made those comments to someone he'd never seen before.

I won't go back there, he's got some nice bikes at times, sure but .. I sympathise with the poster ...

    What a wanker
