Not according to Wikipedia. "The fastest automobile in 2015 was the Porsche 918 Spyder, which is a hybrid vehicle taking 2.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60."

Then again this is 2017 so there'll likely be something quicker. Us bikers will need to watch out, there are going to be cars that compete with bikes.

    Don't be a wanker.

Also while you're busy not being a wanker please proceed with not believing all the figures on the net.
I just came across a guy who said a magazine tested the leaf and volt for accel figures using one of those test box thingys:

    ............LEAF Volt
    0-10mph:..0.7 sec 0.8 sec
    0-20:.....1.8 ..1.9
    0-30:.....3.0 ..3.1
    0-40:.....4.6 ..4.6
    0-50:.....6.7.. 6.4
    0-60:.....9.4 ..8.8
    0-70:.....13.1 ..11.7
    0-80:.....17.8 ..15.6
    0-90:.....24.7 ..20.6
    0-100:.....NA ..28.1

The 0-50mph seems reasonable, wonder why it's so much slower than the volt for the last 10mph? Of course this info could also be incorrect, cause internet.

Having drag raced a 4wd many times it's easy to see how the leaf driver could have got the jump on the WRX, very easy to bog a 4wd off the line especially if you're not expecting the little EV next to you to paste you off the lights.
0-60 is 9.4 seconds. I said 10, sorry about that, roudning and all. A WRX is, what, 6 seconds? Leaf is a slow car. End of. Why are these facts so difficult to accept? You even posted the numbers right there yourself.

No one said it was faster, I was just trying to explain to you in real world terms how it could appear the Leaf would give one a run. Clearly you only deal in numbers though so stick to your numbers racing, as the guy in FnF Tokyo Drift said to the guy in the Viper "Oh, you can read the brochure"

I once saw an Alpha Romeo Twin Spark destroy a brand new Shelby GT500 off the lights yet "On paper" that could never happen.

If you'd kindly re-read my first comment on this thread about the leaf I stated no facts or figures, I said they don't hang about off the line, based on my OWN experiences. Which you denounced, based on your almighty armchair wisdom. Then I offered to gather you some actual real world data, which you scoff at.

Have you realised you're a fucking dickhead

Not a whole lot, evidently. So you're in good company there.

He said it was quick off the line, which as an EV it would be, faster than a WRX which wasn't launched hard I would say.

Go back to your keyboard where you feel safest racing, the real racers here are talking about real world scenarios.

Ok so I don't that a few of you here know more than me when it comes to EV's, but I'm no idiot either. And I know that a couple of you have been in them, whilst I have over 15yrs in the car industry I haven't. But every video I can find of acceleration tests online back up what the magazines have quoted. One video from an owner states that he felt the car was fast and was genuinely surprised when he measured a 0-60mph time of 10s.

    So what gives?

I don't think that the Porsche hybrid is a production car though, isn't that a very limited run model?

    *googles*

Wikipedia says: The 918 Spyder is a limited edition Hypercar"
    Yeah - that's not a production car.

Now, if a limited edition hypercar can accelerate from 0-60mph in 2.28s then a production car being able to do it in 2.28s is spectacularly good!
If I ever fluke a large Lotto Powerball win then I'm buying myself a fully optioned out top of the line Tesla.

It was about five years ago, but it wasn't a student project. It was that awful Vince Vaughn movie, "The Dilemma".

Need a physicist to tell why but I suspect cars with high torque engage the butt dyno more?

Who needs a Leaf? Come to think of it, I've even beaten WRX's off the lights in my 1.6l Datsun ute. I don't think that has anything to do with it's 0-100 which is...eventually. Perhaps its because I can get to the gear lever quicker because its a column shift:-)

    Full torque from zero revs.

I'll tell you something. My slot cars from the 80s would have nailed virtually anything with wheels you'd care to line up for a race in the zero to 2metres drag race.

    So, golf balls ineligible.
