Europe Tour 2018

I'm planning to ride around (parts of) Europe with some friends in about July next year.

I've put together a route plan using Furkot.
As it's currently laid out, we'll get to visit these factories or museums along the way :

I did a motorcycle tour of Europe a couple of times in the late 80's early 90's, in the 00's in a Kombi.

Tickets to 500cc racing in England were easy to get, Europe was booked out very early.



Mercedes have a good one

At the time the Porsche one was just a room full of cars, there is a good one in Austria with early cars, 356's and such.

Sinsheim is great, they have WW2 tanks

Deutches Museum in Munich is great. Allow at least a day

BMW in Munich was good, BMW Berlin do a tour but you may need to book, we turned up and they thought we had ridden

from NZ so let us tag along.

Ducati is ok- just turned up for that on later in 04

Check out the U Boat in kiel.

Don't forget Breweries, Munich has 5 main ones, Lowenbrau did a great tour, so does Guinness and Jamesons.



there was a Bugatti museum in France....um....Strasburg...? really good.

Italy, try all the Gelatos numnumnum.

Guzzi one is supposed to be good but keeps odd hours I think.

Enjoy your trip, Europe is great on a bike, especially once you get off main roads.

If you are in Torino on a Sunday, the only day it is open, the FIAT museum [Centro Storico Fiat] is well worth a visit. The guides are retired FIAT employees, the day we visited the three old guys were all former engineers.

I've added Porsche Museum in Gmünd, Austria, Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse, France (just over the border from Switzerland) and the Auto & Technik Museum at Sinsheim, to my draft plan.

I've been through BMW Munich. Allow a full day for the factory tour and museum. Make sure you book ahead for factory tour.
Also been through Deutsche Museum, amazing. At least a full day.

Did you get your tour sorted? I now live in the UK and if you can try and get to the IOM TT, its awesome man.
Qualifying is end of May with the racing in June.

Have to do a two week ride around NZ first to discover what works and what doesn't.

The Red Bull aircraft hangar in Salzburg is great to visit. As well as aircraft, there is a multitude of F1 cars and GP bikes.

A couple of days ago I rented a Triumph Trophy SE (1200cc touring bike) and rode from Las Vegas to Phoenix, stayed the night then back again the next day.
About 950km over two days.

The trip was a spur of the moment decision, leaving late for the ride down and leaving early the next day to return in time to catch a plane.
Despite lack of planning and time pressures, it was an epic ride on a great bike on terrific roads.

A week ago I would have slated American roads for being straight and boring. But being able to set cruise control for 85 mph and take in the scenery does have a lot going for it.

Good on you - That sounds like a cracking little adventure you've had yourself there. Nice bikes too the Trophys.
