Making sure you persecute the right persons at fault is the hardest bit, even those specifically trained, IE "serious crash units" struggle sometimes to get the full story.

I didn't know that most crashes were head on

And you wrote that under a link to the recent doings of the "at fault" driver who is allegedly a gang member with over 50 jail sentences behind him, and who is currently locked up awaiting his day in court on the latest batch of multiple charges. On what planet is there any liklihood of him actually "paying" anything?

There are drivers around owing multiple thousands, ten thousand or more, and they make no attempt to pay anything, they just keep racking up the fines. The Justice Dept is a joke. In one instance at work I set an insurance company on to a turkey who owed over six thousand in fines. I was hoping that the company might be more diligent in chasing him for payment than the Justice Department had been. If not he'd have just had a few more thousand added to his tally.

The fuckwit isn't talking about the justice system rather he is talking about ACC fining/taxing/charging at fault people.

    Funny you should post that,
travelled to Te Kuiti through the safety roundabout for Waitomo

sikh driver and his missus stopped dead across the exit, just stopped, blocked the whole exit.

lucky I am an Aucklander used to such manouveres, had hung back expecting such chaos. But the car behind me wasn’t. Dodged the bullet and gunned it between the car and the edge of the roadworks.....

a few few choice words were heard, forgotten later when I went for a tiki tour through the excellent countryside after a business meeting.

double the acc levy but make it so the fee is imposed against the rider not against the bike (ie you can then own and reg. multiple bikes but only pay the acc levy once)

The levy is well high enough already but the multiple bikes 1 plate idea should come in

They have since expanded on that statement and its even worse. They are stopping money on the big projects that help many and instead are going to spray and pray with minor improvements on dangerous secondary routes. However when you look at the thousands of these other dangerous rural routes where fatals occur its a drop in the ocean due to randomness and kms of roadway....

Don't worry under the zero carbon act no one will be able to afford to drive or ride anywhere anyway....

They binned the four lane expressway between napier and hastings, with a median barrier that WOULD have saved lives. Now the neverending long gentle curves, couple with minor fatigue and poverty stricken residents walking the route will contine to be one of the deadliest roads in NZ.
At least the Nats got the airport roundabout at westshore built, just about finished. This WILL save several lives a year at least.
Although they have made it the typical NZTA style of looking big but actually a size down into the perfect truck rollover radius. And with it incorporating a crossing for the cycle network it could be bad news for someone.

On a side note our council/airport authority has introduced 'waiting' fines. You can park for free for up to 30mins.... BUT go over that and your paying the daily charge of $15 which could be very easy as if you arrive slightly early and then your passenger plane is delayed ever so slightly, pisses around getting their luggage etc... No mention of how long is ok for pick up and drop off before its called waiting...????
Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket - Eric Hoffer
