    Yep, spot on. I was over at Akaroa yesterday & there was a line up of shitty old bangers for sale outside the backpackers which raised two questions.
    How the hell do you get to Akaroa before you have a car & find you need to buy one once you're there?
    Second question. Where is the point on the map when travelling out there, that once crossed makes an old banger of a van worth three times more than its worth in Christchurch?

    Hilltop is the dividing line. Once you've fucked your existing shitty van climbing up there, you can pretty well coast to Akaroa.
    Then trade up to one which will get you back to town....
