eek putting rego on hold i just dont get it.

Hi i brought a Honda forza scotter . its down south so i cant ride it to the 21st feb.

I redone the rego for just a month takes it to feb 7th.

I looked into putting it on hold but min it says is 3 months . then talks about fees

ya yada . and am getting headache already . am on very limited budget .

if i put it on hold to stop wasting the 37.00 r so when i take it of just before 27th

what will i pay seems bit daft to me . i got my kawaski 250 blown engine and when i went to put that on hold just lapsed in 11/ 16. it said been done already.

Know am confussed as i did the change overship after that date as just brought it.

this was all online by the way i much perfer to deal with people ;-).

    thanks in advance.

    patrick

The shortest time you can put the rego on hold for is 3 months. if you put it on hold, then take it off before the 3 months has passed, you have fees.

And those fees are essentially the cost of rego from the period you put in on hold until you take it off hold.

So like it was said above, waste of time if it's for less than 3 months.

if you buy a vehicle that the previous owner has put on hold then it stays on hold until the hold period runs out or until you register it. if it hasn't been on hold for more than three month when you change the ownership and you want to license it then you pay from the day you change ownership (no backdating for the new owner)

if you put a vehicle on hold and license it before it has been on hold for three months then it will be backdated to when the hold period started and you will have to pay.

if a vehicle license has run out and you don't put on hold you will have to pay from when the license ran out anyway, there is a grace period tho i am not sure how long this is.

in the past when i was slow putting a vehicle on hold but still in a grace period then the hold started from the date i put it on hold but i have just put the goldwing on hold as it needs some love and the license ran out end of nov (completely forgot about it) but instead of being on hold from the date i did the deed it appears that it has been put on from when the license ran out so.

if i put a vehicle on hold i always do it for 12 months (max amount) because after three months i can still re-license for no extra cost.
in other words, as long as it has been on hold for more than three months it makes no difference and i don't have to worry about it

Actually he's got a lot better. A couple of years back I wouldn't bother as they were unintelligible (which my spell checker is telling me isn't a word), but now I can mostly understand. I always reread and edit my posts.

Firstly, get your life organised, I've managed to have a car on hold for 20 years simply by keeping track of shit in my life including moving house 4 times.

Secondly, what you're saying about rego applying to the person makes sense, but sadly there is no logic in the current system and it would result in less income so it's not going to happen.

I guess the system could be difficult to understand if English isn't your first language?

Early on in discussion about the then new ACC charges it was suggested (of course) that the owner be registered rather than the machines. The official response was that registering the owner would not meet the budgeted figures.

I understand the system as it exits doesn't meet their budget anyway. So much for that.
