    Dakar

I s'pose some of you are still on holiday? In the past there has tended to be a big build up to the Dakar - then when it starts almost total blackout. Well it's not like the bikes are coming past the cameras every two minutes or so as at a normal race.

Lyndon Poskitt is a Brit riding in the Dakar and he is filming as he rides and he has a small team to edit his clips and get them up on the 'Net each day. He is entered in the Malle Moto class which means he has no mechanics, he does everything himself. Currently he is lying second in the class which is where he finsihed on his previous attempt.

At the time of writing I think he is about to ride stage 11 which will be episode 16. His coverage is the best look we have ever had at the Dakar and apparently his clips are getting more views than the official coverage. You'd expect Brits along the route to support him but it looks as if even the locals are holding up signs with his name now.

A search on Youtube for: Races to Places Dakar '18 will find his clips, each of which is about ten minutes long.

Or you can start at the beginning (usually a good place to start).

I have been following him. Really interesting. Seems like a straight forward event for him so far, if such a thing is possible!

I started following him last year, but I used to watch whatever I could find from the Dakar since the eighties

Hubert Auriol is still my favourite, first guy to win both car and bike classes

Oh yeah as much as I like bikes the Trucks are the most fucking awesome class out there

Sorry, the only former Legionnaire I knew passed away recently so I can't get any first hand information for you.
