Pretty sure there is another way for a Harley rider to measure three inches .........
So - three it is. And stick to the 150.
Or get a larger rim laced up being wearing of the previous clearance issues. Shit- it's a Harley they probably have a 5.5 inch genuine rim in the HD accessory book.
Flick through the HD specs heaps wear the 150 rear - I just presumed they would run something fatter now days for ego.
Hi all
I'm happy to report 180 / 70 -16 tyre successfully replaced my factory 150 / 80 -16 tyre on 3 inch wide rim. Same tube was used.
Note, ill be fabricating my own rear fender to suit.
now, on to my next triumph!
Well at least you saved some money on a tube. Makes you wonder why they make different sizes when you can just over inflate them to take up the extra space.
Geez the pressure is the same, what possible problem can there be overstretched tube then load a 250kg bike at 100kmph and hit a decent pothole?
That all on a tyre distorted well past manufacturer recommendations.
This right here. This is why buying a vehicle that has been modified by a cretin is risky.
Yeah I'm through being nice. But sheesh dude this is in the same league as boy racers dropping their Mazdas onto the bumpstops.
But I'm sure you know better and will tell everyone no one else could give you the answer but you pushed ahead anyway.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Yeah nah mate, remember the tyre got wider but at the same time also gone lower profile, so we didnt end up over inflating it at all if any. I ended up having a long discussion regarding this with the manufacturers themselves (both harley and dunlop) every step of the way. pffft, dropping mazdas onto the bumpstops....![]()
lol, taking this rather personal are you? haha I love it! Take a chill pill bro!
Would love to see a look on your judgmental face when I upload a photo, receipt and conversation screenshot from Harley & dunlop themselves.
But I won't let you have it because you don't deserve the truth with that attitude.![]()
Hopefully your next WoF is due soon and they'll fail you. Or you'll get pulled over for something and the cop will notice that the rear tyre looks kind of weird.
5" seems to be the minimum width given by tyre manufacturers, although it looks like Harley mount it on a 4.5" rim on some bikes for that custom look.
Who fitted it? They could be in a shit load of trouble after the SCU examine your bike.
Honestly mate, this will not end well.

The only way that Harley and Dunlop would have said that what you've done is fine is if you're led them to believe the bike will only ever be a show bike and never ridden on the road.
Like I said though, I'm picking you're full of shit instead.
(And yes, I tend to take fuckwits turning bikes into death traps a little personally).
