Christchurch has a new bike dealership

Well, yet again big changes... just after we get used to Avon City Ford being a Suzuki dealer, I find out there is about to be a bloody big new HONDA dealer.

They will be selling all things Honda from a lawn mower to a 4x4 and CBR1000, and Casbolts will remain with Honda too, LOL good luck there.
Changes have already started, and it will be good to see one of ChCh's origional Honda dealers back.
    cheers DD

Whiting Honda - that was them!

Honda Otago could set up in Christchurch - they sell plenty here already - I've purchased two bikes off them and know of another couple as well recently.

Its all about the best deal - and they have been happy to deliver free.

It was a lot less than 25 years ago (Whitings) and don't forget there was also Hollands at one stage

Happer's Honda the Honda dealership at Dunsandel between the tea-rooms & store on the main road (used to be a servo years ago).

Robin changes flavours like the wind how many different marques in the last 20yrs ? I can think of 5 major brands they've carried

Doesn't worry us we're just Norjo's & Superior for sales

no mate not about best deal... but best PR... and amy one that has dealed with the local chch Honda dealer knows they lack it big time, christ I spent 17k there one day the next day the old bastard charged me full price on a can of chain lube... all $14.50 of it.
The average Jo was more than happy to deal with the Duners crowd, but they know longer deal with Honda... dont mater the new Chch dealer will clean up.

So you going to tell us who?

As for Whitings I knew it when it was Whiting and Waltho and old Mrs Whiting was the main "man" on parts and she'd still give me student discount years after I'd finished Uni - and her old man was always dressed in a long coat a bit like a lab tech. I presume they closed because sadly at their age I doubt any of them live on this earth any more. What I could never believe is the old girl always had the parts in stock that I wanted even the minute trivia, but that was before overnight couriers.

I lived in ChCh from 73-78 and initially Tommy's was Suzuki then changed to Yamaha - never knew why as they weren't such a popular brand then.
    Cheers

    Merv

    lols man there was:

    Tommy's Yamaha
    McCleary Motorcycles (Tommy's brother Kevin)
    Monarch Yamaha
    Doug Creswell's
    Eric Wood's
    Casbolts
    Whiting
    Holland's
    Hornby
    Pacific Motorcycles
    Norjo's
    ChCh motorcycles
    Bland Brothers
    John Boot
then the lesser more dodgy ones were about too

Tommy started where Eric Woods was
Eric Woods started where Monarch used to be
    Tommy sold Suzuki before Yamaha
Norjo's sold Suzuki before they sold Kawasaki
ChCh Motorcycles started out selling Suzuki
Pacific started the Jap import gig
    Bland Brothers where Euro importers
John Boot dealt in anything but had some gems
Creswells had the best Mechs in town (Eddie McCann was a wizard)
