The digital fuel injection came out on the 1982 model and apparently was a noticeable improvement on the previous year's EFI.

Yes its niggling fault is it still needed fuel to pass through it, an omission a friend stumbled on whilst we were touring the south island. How I laughed towing him into Queenstown with my RZ350.
Don't you look at my accountant.

The original Bosch injection was based on Nissan car parts

I dredged out a couple of old pics, I really need to take some better ones

1 pic is as found, the other ones are after paint and decals, still more work to do, and better pics needed

I remember them. They were the big testicle machines. Good to see one on the road.

I was quite the fan of the Z1000J naked (back then it was just called a motorcycle).

Looking at the spec sheet they produced a claimed 90 horse and dry weight was claimed at 245kg.

If I revisited the J model now I'd probably be utterly underwhelmed coming off 848cc with the same specs claimed at 132hp & 169kg.

testicles indeed, I went for a blat around the Hawksbury circuit yesterday, the old girl was itching to be let off the leash, however, commonsense prevailed- this is one looong heavy bike.
turning it around in my driveway is something akin to bringing the Kaitaki into Picton Harbour, needs bow thrusters
