Tea ? Oh good. But I'm very particular about my tea. I hope you don't use those vile abominations, those devil spawned nastynesses, tea bags.

Whoever was responsible for inventing those needs to be consigned to the deepest pit in the lowest level of Hell, with a regiment of particulary sadistic demons permanently assigned to poking their bottoms with red hot pokers.

The ONLY proper way to make tea is :

Take an eartheware teapot (NOT silver or porcelain)
Warm the pot with a little boiling water.
Add to the pot, from an AIRTIGHT tea caddy, sufficient of good quality loose tea . I prefer Twinings English Breakfast myself, but chacun a son gout. One TEASPOON of tea for each person, plus one for the pot.
Add the appropriate amount of boiling water. Boiling. Not boiled 5 minutes ago.
    Stir once.
Allow to stand quietly for 1 to 2 minutes depending on tea blend, covered with a pretty tea cosy.
Pour into teacups, with as little disturbance of the liquor as possible. Those who prefer weak tea first, working up those of a stronger preference.
Drink tea. All additions of lemon, milk , sugar are vile abominations.

Bikkies, or cucumber sandwiches, are a perfectly acceptable accompaniment. As are small cakes.Or, if it is my tea, a honking great cheese, pickle and roast meat doorstop.

No. No lemon. It is an effete bourgois affectation.

    righto, you toffee-nosed snob.

one of these days I'll 'ave you round and administer a blind tasting of TEB bags, TEB made in a pot proper-like, and a control substance, all in identical china cups, repeated over 5 rounds with palate cleansers in between.

$10 says you don't pick it any better than random chance.

and, by the way, Dilmah Extra Strength kicks the pants off any of the Twinings blends.

Heh he. Mrs Ixion tried that. She surreptitiously switched. Thinking I would not notice. I did. Immediately.

But yes , Dilmah is a good blend too.

EDIT: Particularity about tea is not toffee nosed. It is working class. Tea is the drink of the proletariat.

The thread that went from bad to worse and back again..... Has Zanda had her ride/s yet?
Are doyley's (sp) permissable to be used at previously said tea party or are they considered a dash too much panache?
