    making your own biker movies

Mate got a Samsung "sports" camera for Chrissy. Comes with an external camera as well as the built in one. I cable tied and insulation taped it to the right hand mirror and went for a quite ride up the tukas. Unfortunately its 700+ Megs so any body got somewhere it can be uploaded to so the mainlanders can see what a real road looks like?

What format is it currently in? You need to try and encode it as an avi, best bet is to use either divx or xvid codec. Might take a bit of time but you should be able to condense it down quite a bit.

I can do a fairly basic edit and compress for you. Should I PM you an account to upload it to, or do you want to burn it to CD and post it over?

A 700MB upload over nearly all NZ "broadband" is about 17Hrs ... just so you're warned.

Its already MPEG4/AVI. It probably won't compress much more. I'll try and get it off my mates PC tomorrow and onto a CD, once I find one. I need to trim the "turning on the video and putting my gloves back on" bit, and might edit out some of the boring foothills, which will, once the surface looses all the loose gravel, be a howler.

What resolution is it and how long is it?

possible ways to make it smaller:
    increase codec compression/reduce quality
    decrease resolution
    decrease file length

also the audio can be compressed with mp3 and set to mono (if it isn't already).
If you can get a copy to me, I could have a go at it.

Looked on the maps and can't find anywhere by the name of "mainland"...
The SOUTH island however appears to be a popular place, (mainly for Aucklanders at the moment - unfortunately):spudflip:

I have a fair whack of hosting space, and can happily host large avi files etc etc. Let me know if needed.

I'll try and get in on CD Thursday nite, Are you going on the TRTNR this week? or I can bring it round if you like.

I also want to give it another go with some tape over the MIC as the wind noise ruins the sound.

Sounds great. I'm wondering if I should get a decent rider to make a vid. Pity to waste all that space just to have everyone laugh at my "style". I'm not like sniper, I can't take the shame.

Would need to be anonymous as well. Just in case the dark side see it.

I've got some grouse footage as well from my set-up, but I'm kind of reluctant to put it onto the net for obvious reasons. Might save it for a track ride.

open file in virtualdubmod and change the video compression
