Had a 109r, a real nice bike the 240 rear end makes it a bit clumsy at low speed but no dramas.
Motor is sweeeeeet, box good, brakes good.engine “chrome” parts very plasticy and cost cuts around the trim etc.
However this is an awesome bike and in a straight line it will destroy many a good sport bike and don’t even look at Harleys and Triumphs this will EAT them!!
Go for it mate :
I sat on one the other day other and immediately decided the M90 was going to be a better choice.
It had a massive heat shield (?) on the right side and its so dam wide I felt like a dwarf (I'm ~5' 6" ish).
Reviews all say the brakes are heaps better than the M90 though, and that candy orange colour is so sexy!
It's not right for me, but if you're not planning on throwing it around too much, it could be for you!
Yea, I'm past the "throwing it around" stage, lol. I'm a 6 foot fat bastard so the M109 may be better suited to me, just found out a mate has one so I'm gonna go have a looksee and see if I can con a quick ride of it.
If you want to go around a corner.....forget it. They handle like shit
Not true....After 50 years of riding many bikes and mainly cruisers, all bikes will corner but it depends on the rider. Most cruisers are not the best cornering bikes but when ridden properly with an experienced rider they can keep up pretty well with most average riders on most bikes. The M109R has grunt to spare and although has a 240 rear tyre (same as V Rod and a few others) this bike can corner well especially using when using apex cornering. Just take a look on You Tube and the facts speak for themselves.
Suzuki M109R is an awesome cruiser bike and excellent value for money when you compare price, hp, torque, reliability, handling and available extras etc.
Excellent bike with huge hp and torque. No ABS but has awesome brakes and most bikes with ABS have an off switch for ABS anyway. Simple switches speedo etc. Suit a taller rider and has comfortable seat and drag bars. Impressive bike that easily embarrasses most other cruisers! If you are looking to buy one get a newer, post 2012 model. Go for it.
I rode a couple when the shop was servicing my GSX14 , my thoughts back then were shit front brakes but really good rear, modest HP with nice gobfulls of torque, ride it for what is and it was fun, 2nd gear a bit clunky at times. If your from the NI touring the SI make sure the back tyre is NEW before hand, 240s can get a bit scarce at times down here.
