Had a factory standard HD go past me this afternoon as I was cylcing. Heavy traffic, he was going about the same speed as all the traffic, and so was I.
Clearly he was happy with the size of his manhood, as he still had the factory pipes. Basically no louder than the Toyota ute he was behind. Basically dead quiet.
Just sayin.
Maybe the owner was a member of the Patriots Motorcycle Club. Current/Ex Cops/Servicemen/Firemen/Amulsanceman. Of course per supposition and wearing a tin foil hat on my part :}
An ex work colleage, ex Army transport, who is in the club. He was so tight he wanted to use my Ullyses membership number to get a cheap ferry crossing across Cook Strait. I told him to get fucked.
And yes he rode a Harley Ferguson.
Here's the piece of law in regard to noisy exhausts.
It's the same standard for motorcycles and cars, trucks etc. Motorcycles don't get a special exemption, the standard is the same.
You may note that there are effectively 2 rules. One where a subjective judgement is made, and one where an objective judgement is made.
The roadside judgement by an officer is based on their subjective view of how loud a vehicle was with it's standard exhaust when it was manufactured.
If the exhaust has been modified and is louder than the factory standard, it breaks the rule in question. That's the subjective test.
What rips my undies about it is that there are demerits. Yet there are no demerits for going through a red light, or not wearing a seat belt.
This particular noise law was introduced as a reaction to the boy racer issue some years back.
I also note that the OP has blogged the same post elsewhere. Poor form.
Hi Rastuscat
Are you going to organise a coffee and ride sometime?
cheers
Simon
