I have a new pair of Army issue boots ,considering using them on the bike.

I have two pairs of Sidis and a pair of Garnes' (spelling)that are all pretty fucked now.
Most of the problems are they are worn down to the toes on outer edges, from older production bike racing. lol.
Anyway the new army jobbies are comfy and should suit with the type of ridin I do in old age ?

Yip if you don't mind laces. I wore combat boots for several decades..

I used to use them myself for the same thing. Easy to walk (and push a bike) if required. Some water proofing can be achieved with Sno seal.

Most shoe shops will sell a Bee's wax variety of the stuff. It works on leather clothing too.

yeah mate , I use Bee's wax stuff on leathers , boots and gloves !! wife bought back a couple of tins while at "horse of the year" in March.
I don't do wet ridin these days ,but now and then get caught out ,works well.

Maybe you didn't get many other options.

if you ever see Carhartt boots (or anything else with the Carhartt brand on it) you can be confident you will get quality.

3 months ... THAT long ... you were on a winner there ... especially with regular and constant use. In the Army ... I went through at least four pairs a year.

Soles de-laminating and being unable to repair.

That is not 'Fit For Purpose' in my book.

Therefore the Paraflex Combat Boot is a steaming pile of doggie do - and should be avoided.

So what new boots next? Germany Army or Keen Winter?

I concur, The last pair of combat boots I used were a pair of John Bull steel caps. Soft sole which lasted and very comfortable. Weren't that pricey at the time either, around $150 or so iirc

They have survived two day's heavy duty in temps only marginally above zero.
