But I do agree with the next bit. We had people wanting to learn, and people wanting to shorten thier provisional licence, as it was back in the day. The 2nd group knew it all and could often ride quite well, from a technical point of view. I sent a couple home for dangerous stuff that put others at risk.

    Which reminds me,. . .

Then there was the occasional Hardley wannabe who needed a licence and we didn't send them away for having a 1340 for the carpark stuff. But we did insist on gloves. Which they invariably weren't wearing. Better control you see.

They never came back. Bet we were the butt of thier rants at the pub that night.

You just cant help the willfully stupid.
I think you forget that accudent
    Usually involves 3 key factors.
Allighing togther.you may.get away lots of stuff 99 percent of the time.just because one of those factors was another persons fault .does you no favours when ur in funneral car.
Training only preps you.mind you last week had van and trailer go right then turned left on me .hard in brakes and thank goodness i didint stare at the target .so missed hiting him just.so u guess training did work.

Depends ... if your braking includes skidding ... turning might not be an option.

You can brake hard without skidding ... and you lean into the direction best for you. As you would on any corner on a motorcycle.

    Sometimes it's that exactly.

The bad news is ... in most cases you have one shot to do it. So think fast and carefully.

Yes, I was specifically talking about your accident that I was anticipating that you would bring up several pages and weeks after my post. Also it would be about braking on clay in water in a gutter, that somehow you failed to see.

Sorry that my advice did not meet your needs.

Try doing that with a broken tibia and fibia due to a women Tboning you in a %0kmh zone on a brand new m/c that had only done 50km from new..

I pay my fair share of ACC and expect to get help if an incident like this happened..

I hadn't ever made a house insurance claim until we lost ours in the Sept 2010 earthquake. Made me glad I had that cover.

A bit like ACC. Good to have when you need it, but apparently unnecessary until you do.
