    Bike v's Bird

hi all , went for a spin with some mates today up 16 to mangawhai/waipu , awesome ride , great day for it , on the way up i saw a poor little bird (sparrow?) fly out in front of me , and bang into the front of my bike , mate behind said all he saw was feathers floating out behind my bike. got home and the smell was terrible , blood and guts every where! probably lucky the poor thing hit where it did , could have been expensive it it hit the headlight , or even hitting me in the head! RIP poor little birdy

I think I would always put my money on the bike...............Unless it was a Moa of course. That would really be messy then.

yeah, I remember something about the bird the hit spanky's sv
the only bird I ever hit was on superdave's (when I owned it) bike going about 120 and it hit me square in the head
I can still clearly remember the sound it made, very strange it was

Gotta love those $70 visors aye, well worth the money if it stops a beak being rammed through your head between your eyes

On the GC the Paris Dakar Beemer hit a duck in egg. Hassled him about his mobile dinner. "Duck-on-la-runge, follow by scrambled egg". Yep, he start on a Beemer and came back with a Kwacka

I nearly hit a hawk the other day heading to Coro...God those things are big, dumb and slow! I thought hawks were meant to be fast, agile, killing machines.

the guys who ride those super 'cool' open face helmets might want to rethink there helmet style decision after seeing this, can just imagine the damage a bird flying straight into your teeth would to, bike speed = 100(+?) bird speed = 30-40ish, impact speed= 140ish, ie, your face would pretty much implode, but i guess it's ok cause you look 'cool' in your open face helmet...

I heard those ZX-10's were death machines!!

There's been a few people I know recently who have had encounters with Kamakazi birds, one got hit in the helmet right in front of me the other week, we pulled over to the side of the road and he said "man it feels like I've been punched in the head!"
