Apparently the Suzuki GN125 will no longer be sold in NZ. With that and the 250, must be the longest continuous model run ever for a new bike?
I bought mine in 1980-something.

I'm thinking farmbike.
CT90. AG100, TF125.
Apparently TW200 a long runner?
And good riddance to the GN. When I was instructing in late 80s half the class would show up on them.
Silly pull back bars with long travel soft underdamped forks and a 1/2 decent brake. Just unpleasant to watch trying to brake heavily. They always struggled compared to say a VT or GSX250.
Don't you look at my accountant.

My first thought was the CT90/110. Peter Thoeming rode around the world on his CT90 'Interstate' in the late 70s.

I still want to see a GN250 racing series. Change the bars, rear shocks and tyres and go to it.
The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight underpants.
KLR650 started in 1987 but that was based on the KLR600 introduced in 1984. The 650 was dropped in 2018 but its back again, detail changes but the same basic bike
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

After another moments contemplation of long run models, the Royal Enfield Bullet comes to mind. According to Wikipedia the Bullet has the longest production run. The bullet starts in 1933 or 1948 depending how you count. The 1933 Bullet was a different design, the 1948 model is basically similar to the most recent.

Right, all very interesting and obviously I really didn’t give that enough thought.
I seem to recall the 125 being available alongside the 250 at one time, the only other difference being it just had a speedo, not the rev counter and gear indicator.
Apart from capacity, was the GN ever changed in any other way? Might have had spoked wheels to start with and then went to cast ones?
Anyway I guess nobody’s going to miss it much.

It's not the only bike being culled by the looks
New emissions standards & requirements for things like ABS are killing a few bike models

In much the same way that emission controls were the demise of two strokes.
I had a 180cc Piaggio Runner two stroke for a while, wish I had kept it. Half way through the model life they went to a four stroke, purely for European emissions regulation compliance.
I have a soft spot for the GN125. I reckon that if you ride it as it is designed i.e. commuter, town bike, it's a pretty good wee runner.
