I tried a quick google about the radar and all I found was system that detects anyone stopping or objects falling from vehicle. But I do quite believe they have avg speed capability as that is plug and play for many electronic signs around country, govt just needs to buy the software camera upgrade.
Haven’t been that way in big rig in awhile but it’s a said to have a 8% grade section similar to ngaraunga gorge but twice as long. For big rigs the fuel burn comparisons will be interesting compared to coastal route.
Given most traffic will use it it may even make the existing route a more attractiveness option as you still have ability to pull over for a pie, piss or a smoke....
