    Blah Refused Insurance-bugger

Hey I have just called my insurance company AMI in order to insure my FZR 1000 and they refused me.
Reason too big a bike and I wrote off the R1 a while ago which they paid out on. Fair enuf.

Anybody recommend another company that ain't so picky? I have Full NCB car insurance (with AMI!) Full lisence for 13 yrs, 37 yrs old.

Reminds me when as a learner of age 18 I tried to get insurance through AA. My parents have been with them for about 20 years.

AA: What type of bike is it?
    me: Kawasaki zxr 250
AA: Oh sorry we dont insure those type of bikes, or anything kawasaki
    me: see ya later then.

    fucken aa, my conversation went
hi, just looking for motorbike insurance
them: ok, how old are you
    me: 18 (last year)
them: do your parents have insurance with us
    me: no
them sorry we don't insure people your age

whats up with that? then phoned ami and got an awesome deal on 3rd party but there are a few insurance brokers who only deal with motorbikes, they are usually listed in the newspapers 'motorcycles for sale' section or at least thats how it is down here

I didn't even bother approaching my old bike insurer (coincidentally AMI) when I got back on two wheels after my bin and 6 month break from bikes last year. I figured that they would refuse me on the same grounds as you, but that I would try it on them in a coupla years time.

Truth is, a bin is a blemish on your record that, unless you lie (which is dumb cos if you bin again they will find you out), will always go against you and prevent you from getting the best price possible for your experience, age group, etc!

    Hi Swanman,

Give John Baker Insurance Brokers a call. He does many bike clubs and groups. Can usually get you a good deal.
