I pop in every now and then to see what's happening - it's quiet, but not dead like the Perth site. I think a lot of people return to sites like this because most of what they say, or would like to say about things, would result in a ban on social media sites!
May be returning to NZ anyway, as the missus is dying and selling off her bikes .....

    Geez, yeah that sucks.
    We live
    We love.
    We die.

Our best wishes don't always dictate the timeline.

Hope you enjoy your time. That really is the most important thing and the best gift you can give her. Where possible.

I've done the NI 800 twice in the last 12 months with a bit of recreational riding thrown in. Not having to go into work has meant I haven't been riding to work. I haven't ridden since October. I forgot to turn the battery tender on. I have to get a new battery now. Doh. Looking at getting a new bike soon. The Versys has been a good tool, but it is a bit uninspiring.

Hi dude. Suggestion for a wairarapa ride tomorrow? Bit of gravel, maybe a bit of firebreak/easy trail?

    Cheers.

Road to Flat Point is a decent gravel ride.

Yep, yep, and I see rocky hill road on the way, which tickles my memory... then maybe up to riverton and loop back to Masterton.

Feel free to provide supervisory help if you're available.

And to you, god protect the knees.

    I know right.

About to get a Raptor as it would look good outside a unit at Birchleigh.

Interesting. I have been and still am a member of many bike or brand specific forums. I joined kiwi Biker many years ago to join a "kiwi" community. Like many forums there are a number of loyal contributors, keyboard warriors etc that regularly comment or take the piss. Thats the difference I have found between this site and many of the others I dredge information from, and create connections with its members. For every post (unless it is in the technical section) the bias of constructive contribution compared with taking the piss is more towards the latter on this site. Or that's what I have found.

In saying that, people join forums for different reasons so what they take away from their experience differs.

Is this site dead....I bloody well hope not. Not just for me but for all the up and coming kiwi bikers that need the advice from more experienced kiwis. I don't get a lot from it but then I am a long time biker but not a regular biker. Do I get what I need from other forums....yes I probably do which is why my contribution here is minimal.

What I have found is that regular users of this forum are extremely knowledgeable and when genuine advice is needed, it is given in one form or another for the benefit of the thread creator. What have a learnt from writing this reply...

I shouldn't look at this site while sitting in an airline lounge with free alcohol........
I should probably try to contribute more for the benefit of new members........

    Have a great Sunday!

    Had a great Sunday.

    Trials riding is brilliant!

All motorcycles are great. Except cruisers. Which are are poser mobiles. Buy a normal motorcycle.

    Life is awesome.
