I hate glare and wear black visors. But on the dirtbike that isn't a good idea so clear it is. The peak makes it bearable.

On the roadbike I carry a dirtbike goggles strap with me with velcro on the ends. Matching velcro on the visor. In winter when the sun is low I can affix the strap to the top 50mm of visor so you don't have to be holding your hand up to stop the glare. Especially over the Rimutuka hill.

Out of interest, what is the point of the peak on these helmets?

Can't believe it is to do with the sun which doesn't really leave any other alternatives.

Its somewhere to keep my coffee when my phone is in my cup holder. Can't have that starbucks getting lost on my epic adventure.

I’d never thought about it before. My 690 Enduro is my first non sports bike and I looked at adventure type lids but in the end could not see the point so stuck with a Shoei road helmet and dark visor. I get the need for goggles when muddy but not the flappy bit.

Then again, I have always thought that people who wear baseball caps are some kind of special needs so it could well be related.

Says the bald man. Who else wears a beanie in summer. Just, and I mean just, plopped my GasGas motorcycle cap on the table. It's not a baseball cap. I don't play baseball.

HOWEVER if the bloody thing is anymore than 1.2* of center, ie facing backwards or out to the side... well yeah thats special...

Yeah, that. Too much sun on the head is bad when the hair density is not what it used to be, and there are limited choices of hats for when out in the warm weather, so a cap it is to stop the top getting scorched in our ridiculously high UV country.

well... heres my thoughts on the LS2... over all, disapointed...
-The lid is advertised as being spectical friendly, I find it hard to get my glasses on and gets sore after a while, maybe the padding will settle in.
-Peak is not removable as it holds the visor on
-Lid is very vibraty and rattles a bit
-Drop down tint visor is very dark and dosent drop all the way down, this leaves a very bright light putting you off guard

- lid is quite at open road speeds
- Lid is comphy to wear
-Does have a good venting set up
-Peak is good with a low sun

Now the vibrating is what I hate, this ofcourse is not helped by the bikes Screan so I have brought a screen extension to see if this helps, seems to a we bit but if I take it up higher I am looking through it, maybe a short screan is a beter option... as on the sports bike the helmet is a lot smoother.

well... more recomendations for a adventure lid, Iv allways had HJC road lids, but need to look at a adventure type now.... whats good midle of the road brands?
another question... dont the peaks on adventure helmets catch the wind and pull ya head back and oen road speeds?

I just went through this process and tried a number of new lids from the budget to the $1k and over. I've had a ton of helmets in the past and for adv riding have always had a flip-up, but I find them hot and constrictive and heavy, so I went with something a bit lighter.

Really good construction - everything seems nailed down. Comfy, and well ventilated - which also means a bit noisy. I'll trade off cool running for a bit of noise any day, as I ride with earplugs anyway. Don't notice any pulling from the peak and generally it doesn't seem to be particularly inefficient in airflow. The built-in sun visor is particularly useful as I'm an old git with glasses.

Walked out the door for $250 after a bit of Christmas haggling. I see they're on Trademe for $199.
