It would be interesting to see comparisons of enforcement levels vs crashes compared to similar lower population remote areas in North Island as we have a few low enforcement levels too due to staffing and distance.
They reckon crashes are down on SH5 since lower tolerance levels and subsequent 80 k limit and daily appearances by cops compared to previous zero levels unless something had happened.
But at a glance it still seems like lot of crashes happening.
I find there’s usually someone faster willing to be a sweeper/live bait that you can follow at a distance in these areas anyway. Especially if you leave earlyish there’s always a businessman in a flash suv that’s late for a meeting etc….
