    Wow what a day.

Went to a have a go trials meeting. They set them easier for the twin shock oldies. Was just the ticket for me as Trials is hard when your balance is not what it was.
    Enjoyed myself thoroughly.

Forgot to take any pictures in forest so here's one in carpark.
Lots of kids riding which bodes well for future.

Bike clean. Soon time for beer on deck.
And in shower. Shower beers are where it's at.

So we were going to go 19th but moved it. One guy did and waited an extract 2 hrs on the vehicle deck with stuck gate. Our ferry the next day was 4hrs delayed. Had to push on so we got to Darfield before dark. The others dalyied around then had a front flat to contend with. Before dark but not by much.

I moved my booking to afternoon by paying an extra million dollars and was only delayed an hour. But back home to have a shower beer and cooked dinner.

Turn of Makara Road to go down to the beach, its only about 300 m to the turn off, then its about 2 km up to the carpark. All that is sealed. The gate is maybe a KM up. There are gates up there. A skinny bike could get through but its all walking tracks I think

i remember having an "incident" at the top of that Opau Road - when does the statute of limitations run out? It was 39 years ago now lol. I lived about 1 km from the start of Makara Road on the Karori side. I well remember helping the local council by beating the roadside bushes back with my elbows and shoulders when heading out to Makara on my RG250 and then RZ500. Great times Thanks for sharing and bringing back some great memories.

I'm a Karori boy (but not a 'Karori boy') so I've been on that road a few times and go back for sentimental reasons, plus it's a good road going up. Quite like the link road. Heck when was it sealed? Was still gravel in late 80s but probably 90s sealed.

I remember going down to the beach on guy Fawkes night with the lads in a car and having to stop to beat out the multiple fires started by rockets but some we just couldn't get to. What a dumb idea those were. Bet the rural people hated them.

yeah the gorge road used to be gravel, but it is sealed now. It was gravel in the early 80.s I dont know when it was sealed. The latest road we have lost is the gravel bit through from Whangamomona, the gorge bit there is sealed now too
