Rode from Pohara Beach to Picton on Sunday. Perfect weather, had a great ride apart from the boring as batshit road from Motueka to Nelson.

Someone in a Nissan Laurel tried to keep up with me after I passed him in the Rsi Valley. Really?

Fantastic day spent exploring Shannon dam area. Probably a trope in adv world as it is grade 1, but I enjoyed it. Easy road, nice views. Not enough pictures. To busy riding.

I always marvel at the foresight of the fellow who dreamed the scheme up. The survey work to enable the planning must have been a mission. Did you get right to the top dam?

Had a bite to eat at the gate at end of road.

Most other tracks seemed to have gates but there's a couple of open roads I'll try next time.
Yeah i was still marvelling that you wouldn't know it was there to even think of that, but spot on.

    Few 4wd to watch for.

So riding all Friday. Wife says, are you getting out today. . . Um. Yes.

Short ride in the bush. Gee some trees have come down.

Last one. You can call her uncomfortable. But you cant call her fat.

I went there once. The museum wasnt open and the chef was missing so not the lunch of choice before my meander down Whitemans Valley.

    It's a small operation.
Richard showed us through, we talked bikes for 2 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Then we popped into Boneface at Brewtown.

Best weekend where i couldn't ride for a long time.

We had lunch bbq and sat on deck Saturday.

Sunday was on and off rainy but not too bad, didnt bother taking a jacket out, more concerned about what might happen.

Brilliant last friday, was watching the weather for the week cos I turned 77 yrs old !!!

Out by 0830 . Quite a few bikes out and about. 20 odd Hardly Davids in Shannon.
GSX1400 loving the 95 octane . Much cleaner on the throttle from 1500rpm in 6th and from 3000rpm it jumps away .

Note to self , watch for nice policemen with their Radars and Lazers.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Ooh don't call them that, bit too close to the bone for a David.
    (Especially considering my middle name).
Hardly Ableson or Masey Fergison is what they prefer.

    Congrats on the birthday.

Out for a walk. Would be a great day for a ride it looks.
If i could just get them to pay me the same but not keep bothering me with 'tasks'.

Want to get out for long planned adv ride and next couple of weekends are convenient.

Except weather looks crummy this weekend, but worse Motu road still closed which was kinda the point, also the area Gis opotiki has been hammered and two mates i was to visit near those. Hmm.

Congratulations! I hope I'm still riding at 77.

I should try the R1 on 95. It's always run well on 91, but there were a couple of fills in the SI that didn't feel quite right - not from NPD stations though. Petrol is so expensive that the price difference between 91 and 95 seems less at the moment.
