I should try the R1 on 95. It's always run well on 91, but there were a couple of fills in the SI that didn't feel quite right - not from NPD stations though. Petrol is so expensive that the price difference between 91 and 95 seems less at the moment.
I had a BMW 535 car that was supposed to take 91. Every now and then i would put 95 in it.Ran much nicer and slightly more economical .Cant quit remember if it was enough to offset price, but it alway felt much ncer.

Just a quick run round Makara -Karori from Jville. Cant quite get over how narrow it is through the gorge at Jville end.Used to go through there a lot with a bike school, was gravel then. Nice to get out in the sun, after a few days of mostly rain.

Out by 0830 . Quite a few bikes out and about. 20 odd Hardly Davids in Shannon.
GSX1400 loving the 95 octane . Much cleaner on the throttle from 1500rpm in 6th and from 3000rpm it jumps away .

Note to self , watch for nice policemen with their Radars and Lazers.
Happy Birthday mate! How is the hip?

My first Yamaha R3 averaged 26 km/l over 45,000 kms of use running on 91. Sometime between my first and second R3, Yamaha changed the recommended fuel to 95 octane. My second R3 has averaged 29.5 km/l over 30,000 kms of use. As far as I am aware they haven't changed any engine internals or gearing between models, but the gen 2 R3 was supposed to be more aerodynamic than the prior model.

Whatever the reason, the new one averages more out of a litre of gas than the old one did.

Yeah. It's kind of handy being able to get around 400 kms out of a (14 litre) tank. If solely commuting, it can go several weeks between fill ups, although I tend to take it around the backroads every now and again, so it doesn't typically go that long between fuel stops. When I take it down to Masterton, it'll get there with a single fill up. I'm not confident that my actual sports tourer (Z1000SX) could do it in one stop.

Cheers for birthday wishes 10/04/49 Wahine day 68 ' another disaster ! as my dear old mum used to say !!!!!! lol.
Hip ok still bloody careful after it popped out at 4 week mark.

Got accused of being a tight arse using 91, but I just figured 9.1 was low comp and she ran ok apart from a little popping on the overrun.
My gas station had run out of 91 so filled with 95 here in Levin. I'll stay with it .

Race suit is getting tight, but I love the protection, need to drop 5kg !!! heh heh.

It's a good ride that way if you don't feel like going over the hill. Yes we used to take students there on nzmca courses.
We did a night ride and The Tiddler run on small cc bikes over that road too.

When I bought the V6 I was told to use 95 on the grounds that people who used 91 were prone to complain about disappointing performance. It has never occurred to me to put anything other than 95 in a bike. Even the moped although the logic, or whatever passed for logic, was different.

They updated the ECU maps for the gen2 R3s. Change in fueling and ignition timing.

Well, had a couple of hours spare. Headed for Jville backroad, hmm seem to be chasing clouds and roads are wet here. Turn around around newlands and head for upper hutt.
Dry roads, peeled off opposite Z before Rimitakas, subdivision never seen, interesting to do once but then Mangaroa valley which is more like it then Whitemans valley, should really change that being 2026, but anyway, was out 2hrs in dry. . . Until 5min from home .

Gotta get in while you can.
