Mother's Day was a good day for a ride - the back roads north of Auckland were very quiet and it is still warm. The rear Road 6 is starting to look quite worn now, but it's been fun getting it that way!

Saw a silver and blue 2000 Hayabusa, owner said it was the unrestricted model, and it had a 350 km/h speedo.

I'm just changing over to T33 Bridgestone from S22. Due to reasons I won't be chasing fast enough to justify.

But after a break of not being able to ride, I have another, as my thumb I sprained on the dirtbike (welĺ Off the dirtbike I suppose) isn't healing, 7 weeks on. Riding was aggravating it, i knew that but. . . So splint and rest. Bah.

I'd be interested in your opinion of the T33... In a few weeks after your thumb heals.

Another pearler day. Took the CFM450 out to see the Trials as I can ride it again but not the Trials bike yet. Had a brainfart and missed reverse entrance for akas, but just enjoyed the ride back and hot a pie.
Short days this time of year but worthwhile.
Putting off getting out of warm bed. Might buy some heated gloves today as other days aren't likely to be as nice.

Heated gloved are nice. Much better than heated grips, that make the inside of the hand warm/hot while the backs of the finger freeze. I got some from Aussie a while back, have small batteries in a compartment on the back of the wrist. Unfortunately one failed some time later, and the distributer says they are unrepairable. I gave the working, right side one to a one-armed guy in ChCh
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Not tried heated gloves but heated jackets are gerat, i lived at the chateau for a few years and had a stray in wellington so commuted and rooted a lot. they warm up your torso that sends warm blood to your hands, when your core temp goes down it limits blood flow to the hands and toes and stops them being warm from the inside, these are great. as for grips, too many bikes to fit them to them all for me

Have grips on 765 and some on shelf for 450. I like that, like last weekend, you can set off on a beautiful autumn day and go, ooh its a bit cold on the hill especially for the gloves I've chosen. Click. Warm.

But some purpose, it's cold today heat , is the next step especially as I have lost a bunch of flesh and nerve damage in my fingers mean I have to be more careful with keeping them warm.

After my first Brass Monkey (1991) I was determined not freeze on the bike again, so I made a heated sleeveless jacket on the wifes sewing machine using a length of wire from an old Safasleep low voltage electric blanket. Many broken needles later I had (if I am reading Ohms law correctly) a 25 watt heater around my lower back and upper chest. No controller other than on/off switch. Works very well.

Same. Except I borrowed one. Then bought a Widder.
Now I use an airbag vest I can't use it. But I don't go to Brass or Kiwi anymore.

Got some Ixon smart ones. Thermostatic control so set and they work 'parently. My office wasn't a particularly good test venue.

i put a normal three pin pug on my heated jacket an a 230v style household power point on my bike, was on the piss and stuffed my jacket in my lid and parked up over night, a mate thought he'd do me a favour and bring my bike back next day, which was against my wishes, dont touch my bike, anyway he said he was riding along and the jacket nearly burst into flames, bullshit i said, he'd plugged it into the mains,
he admitted it a week later
fucked the jacket but would have looked good nailing 20 times the voltage into it i reckon

heated grips are good, but much better if you have some kind of wind protection for the hands.
been thinking about a home made heated vest from an old electric blanket
