Had a 3 day weekend ride.
Friday went to Whanganui for the GS Rallye via the Manawatu Tag near Ashurst/Palmy

Saturday Ride day.I did the seal/gravel route which was a total of about 375km with some magic rods in between stretches of gravel one section of which was quite thick with larger stones than normal.I found a roadside ditch on that section some other riders stopped to help me get it out of the ditch.Only damage was my pride.I was a tired boy at the en
About 220 attendees. All sorts of bikes too

Sunday came home via Wairarapa over a road recommended to me, Pori Road off Pahiatua/Pongaroa Rd, some gravel on that too really good views. Was windy in patches on the hill. Got stuck behind a guy going quite well in some sort SUV. Ĥe blocked me from passing on the short passing lane about halfway up the rapa side.

I've thought about that road but never done at as on roadbike.

Gee sounds like you had a fantastic weekend. Good for you. Lets all get out there rather than bitching. Get riding.
Don't you look at my accountant.

It was quite alright, right up the top the gravel was very thin,in some places pure dirt ,could be slippery after rain but the rest was pretty typical NZ gravel road quite well defined wheel trcks

I was going to borrow an adv bike and come down with a mate, but our son ran his first marathon in Auckland on Sunday. Great weather this year and good roads, so disappointed I couldn't make it.

For those that are interested here is a map of where we went. Two Parts the morning run out and the afternoon run back. There was about 120km of gravel with two quite long runs. About 50km in the morning loop out and back to Whanganui, and another long run ending in Watershed road just before Hunterville. Wa glad for a break in Hunterville and very glad to get back to Rallye HQ. That was only about 15k from Whanganui. They put on a very good feed 2 breakfasts and two dinners

I didnt see or notice any gates. I was back from the first riders. Maybe all the gates were opened by arrangements. The only private property I know about was at Paloma Gardens/Motorcycle Museum where they had the "challenge" loop.
