Welcome to NZ (when you arrive), Welcome to the site in the mean time. Good people on here, tons of good advice.
Wot kind of Engineer are you? I work for a consultant engineering firm with an office in London so you could check us out before you come (if you're that kind of engineer)

TA is a calm country town, but not so small is to require you to drive a long way to get basic stuff. There is a city less than an hour away that has all the other crap you will need. I would imagine an engineer in TA could get a job. There is lots of farm machinery, hydro dams, a large dairy factory and many associated milk trucks I imagine need maintaining. My mother is from there, so I always think of TA in a positive light :-)

Welcome to NZ, and Kiwi Biker. The riding in this country is awsome anywhere you go, central North Island has some great roads, but to really get into it visit the South Island. Ive seen more of this country than a lot of people and never ever get tired of it, at all. If you come to the north of the North Island, call in for a cuppa and a chat. KB has been great for us and have met some wonderful people, had some great rides and gained some very useful information. We get to ride pretty much all year round, the summer is great so you are coming at the right time of the year, definatley. ENJOY!

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

Your gong to love it here, we have never looked back since moving here (yes another UK import here, four years on). The people are so friendly and the weather is great, never catch me back in the UK.
