Yeah, I don't see any problems at the side of the road. The Police will have pulled that clause out when the plates came out and been told it would not stand up in court.

Anyway, what do you do with the original plate when the black jobbie arrives? NZ is quite precious about number plates for some strange reason so i guess they will demand it back somehow. If they did revoke the black and silver plates, which I am sure they will one day if it reduces government income, it might be cheaper for TPTB if they allow us to keep the OE plate. Otherwise they will have to get them remade and refund the cost of the black one.

Actually, isn't this whole thing racist?

I doubt they'll revoke the silver/black plates, otherwise you'll have thousands of pissed off Tesla owners who could crash the National Grid by all charging their cars at once.

I received notification from KiwiPlates that my plate has been approved, but there is an Important Notice that states manufacture of silver on black plates must be requested by 30 November 2024, otherwise they will be made as white on black.

I read that if you wanted to order a black and sliver plate you had to do it via KiwiPlates before 1st November so today is your last chance. KiwiPlates do all the checks and approvals and shit then send your order to Licensys who make the plate. Licensys however have to stop making the black and silver plates on 30th November.

By the look of it you can order replacement plates direct from Licensys but if you want to alter the look of them, ie go black and silver, you have to order through KiwiPlates so today is the last day you can do it.

Or get a can of rattle and some masking tape.

Yep, big green header on the kiwiplates website that today is the last day to order silver on black plates. I had a look, but the plate I would have bought wasn't available, and don't see the point of a new plate for the existing rego number.

Many years ago I got told off by a policeman for having painted the letters on the then standard silver and black plate, apparently it's an offence to alter a registration plate. Didn't get ticketed, and easily sorted with some paint thinners.

    Sorry yes, Burnt.

Sunburst was the Kia colour I chose to repaint my hiace.
I painted my YZF Monaro Orange (spiced uo with a little more).
And one of my racebikes was a flat signal orange.

I don't recall saying hi vis was naff. Is this a statement with any data behind it , or just a prejudiced opinion?

I've literally just changed into an orange Tshirt (ChoiceBros brewery giveaway) now I'm home. Only piece of orange clothing I own though. I'm not a psychopath.

In case anyone else is trying to get a plate made. Their website was broken this morning but there is a message now - click on this to read it.

Placed the order this morning - might have it by Christmas as there's a 15-25 day backlog. Can't think why!
