I saw an Ad on TV just last night for the new plates ?
No mention of a cut off date for these new plates ???

Maybe they are enjoying the $$$ and not concerned about things like hard to read by cameras ?

Kiwiplates were very clear when I placed the order that requests for the manufacture of silver on black plates must be submitted by 30 November. Maybe it was an old ad?

The issue is that I've got one on manufacture now, then I need to do two more before the end of November. You have to have active registration (not hold) in order to request manufacture.

I only have one live currently, will liven up another this coming weekend, but can I order a plate on a bike that already has a pending order... hopefully the first arrives shortly, I requested manufacture on 2 Nov...

That's what delayed me. Rego must be current with more than 30 days until expiry, and then I realized it needed a new WoF as well. But all sorted now.

The black "stealth" plates can be read by some cameras. Just received my toll notice for Tauranga eastern link. $2.30 toll, $4.90 administration fee (for a fully automated system?)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Well they do have digital photos of them on website… I’d guess the rolling booths would have a combo of still and video systems to read plates. And then a human operator whether there or remote gets an alert for an unreadable plate and manually observes you on a backup system.

With more toll roads just announced it won’t be long before we go to an electronic form of rego that will broadcast your rego number/id anyway…

Most of the toll roads elsewhere you have to put the tag in the car, or be charged exorbitant 'admin' fees for processing your toll payments.

They'll find a way to get you.....

I received mine a little over a week ago (all 3 together), on the Wednesday. Plan to put them on this weekend, but making an aluminium backer so they can be double sided taped to the backer, keeping the plate nice.

Yeah, mine arrived a month ago and I got carried away with drilling holes in it without thinking that if I transfer it in the future the holes may be elsewhere and I won't be getting a replacement plate.

    Doh.

Interesting. What happens if you don't pay? $7.20 doesn't even justify a follow up letter.

When did you order them? Excellent idea to use a backing plate, thank you.

All were initially ordered in Oct before cut off. First plate was approved on 2nd Nov for manufacture (plate went live that day). I then ordered the 2nd on 25th Nov and rang the following day, as now I was concerned how the first would be finished so I could order the third on top of it. Lady was really good once I explained how I was trying to get three plates on two motorcycles, so queued the third on top of the first, said no worries, because you called in etc, they'll all be silver on black. All arrived on 11th December together.

Re the aluminium, you can either have 2-4 bits at the top for mounting and adding the rego/wof holders, or I'm probably going to keep it simple and have it higher all the way across, plenty of room to put additional holes in the future if needed.

I did have friends get theirs before mine, but ordered after me, so the sequencing is weird.

I'm also going to order security torx screws to mount them. Can't believe how I've changed. First I didn't care how dirty the plates were... now I'm trying to keep em nice, but then, you can't get them again (unless they re-introduce later)
Figure this double sided tape shouldn't let me down: https://www.bunnings.co.nz/scotch-2-...-roll_p0323826

I have black security 'torx' screws on the black plates on the '14R .

Only because they look so much better than silver screws on a green and black(ish) bike. I'm wondering what the next 'Personalised' number plate offering will look like ?

    I await with baited breath.

"Pay now to avoid further charges You are legally required to pay your toll. If we dont receive payment before the due date we'll need to refer to a collection agency. Then you may be issued with a toll offence notice with an infringement fee of $40. This is in addition to the amount owing and extra debt collections agency costs"
