I have an old 7" iPad Mini that I reckon I could fit into a waterproof case and fit it as a rear number plate. Power wouldn't be an issue as it could be taken from the rear light though a 5V convertor. A quick trip to the local NZTA carpark would be a source for a collection of numbers to display on the iPad

Checked the plate this afternoon. The mounting with the tape still feels really solid, same for the reflector bracket which I thought could be a problem.

I've noticed at some angles in low light the black background on the plate looks almost silvery and the plate can't be read. This could be why they stopped making them, but in normal light it's fine.

Mate and I are on the road now and then on longer rides. We've noticed when following each other that depending on light, angles etc, the plate can quite quickly shift from visible to invisible.
