Thread: Selling your first bike

  1. #16
I don't think I got much riding in on the Bantam,I finally had it starting first kick when I sold it.But I was surprised at the interest in it...in 1971 Bantams were really old hat and the word ''classic'' hadn't been invented.I didn't want it back, but I kept the lessons it taught me....

I do and don't regret selling my old bike. I do regret it because I didn't have another one to replace it with - and still don't although I'm actively looking again despite the threat of sleeping on the couch. I don't because it went to a friends father, who happens to be a mechanic. He spent every waking minute for 3.5 months stripping it back and rebuilding it to better than new condition. Once he was finished, you could eat your dinner off the engine. So it went to a good home and he ended up selling his 1300 and using my old bike because it was physically smaller and he isn't a big guy.

    It's like a first girlfriend...

when it's time to move on you both know it, but you will stop and look back at the good ol' days with some fondness from time to time...

I love my bike, Ive spent more on it in repairs than I bought it for and I adore the little slut even though she's a little one. I dont want to pass it onto someone else who might not love it as much as me, you think perhaps I should just keep it and buy a better bike outa my own pocket?

edit: gaylord, you cant press 'back' after youve started to add a poll or it fucks up
Moving on to bigger and better things is usually good, however I wish I had not sold my RD250LC, but thats another story. Can't remember selling my first bike, I might have killed it instead? As for the last bike I sold, I sold it to a bloody good bastard. He knows who he is
