    bike price info please

hi guys, as i will be comming over from the uk i have no idea on bike prices in NZ so could someone give me an idea or a dealer website to check out.

i think i may just buy a 1200 bandit or similar, maybe something around 3 years old, depending on price, i would love another new fazer 1000 but i dont think i will be able to stretch that far unless nice finance deals are available.

    any help would be appreciated.

another thing is how does insurance work over there. i am 36 and pay approx £350 which is roughly $650 dollers on a new fazer.

    thanks

    try these out Wil,
    www.motorcyclemarketplace.co.nz
    www.traderpoint.co.nz ( bikepoint )
    bandits around $10k+ ($14k new)
    gs1200ss $7.5k+ used, $10k new
    fazer ( unsure about $18k new ? )
insurance is a mixed bag (plenty of options & plenty of different company veiws also)
depends on your history etc and if their in a good mood or not

Lots of Cheaper gery imports here too. Plenty of parts backup for them here. By the way 350 pounds is about $850 and you do not pay that much here unless you have a bad record like lots for speeding tickets or crashes or drunk driving etc.
    NZ is a bikers paradise.

Check www.trademe.co.nz for second hand bikes

Also, insurance over here is not compulsory, so is normally cheaper. If you have a long no claims history, get a letter from your insurance company. You may not get all of it here, but it would probably be useful as a bargaining tool.....

    Bike prices and insurance

I am a Scot, have been here for nearly three years.

Try http://www.redbook.com.au/mcycle/default.asp for Australian second hand values and then use Australia to NZ currancy convertor at www.oanda.com to convert.

Haggle on the deals here the bikes are cheaper and the dealers still like cash.

Woo hoo! insurance is based on purchase price not insurance grouping... Say hello to an R1....

A new 2005 fireblade is $18,995 (7,500 pounds) before haggling - 8,800 pounds in the UK.

By the way in Auckland doesn't get cold much - riding all year is a goer.

    best of luck

You will be dissappointed going from an FZ1 to any of the above mentioned bikes. See if you can ship it out?

unfortunately aussie prices are not really reflective of NZ pricing - i had a few rides and looked quite a bit in sydney last month. also, there is no requirement for warrant of fitnesses over there, so a lot of bikes are running close to limits on everything (brakes/tyres/disks etc) - unless you buy from a dealer, so what's the point? just go to www.bikepoint.co.nz and www.trademe.co.nz and research there.
