    Great NZ rides.

Ok, so just about everywhere in NZ is a great ride. We have so much great scenery and so many great people in this country it's hard to pin down a particular ride/location/occasion.
I thought because I'm bikeless at the moment I could live vicariously through you guys and you could relive some of your rides gone by, maybe opening up a whole new world to those of us who haven't had the opportunity to get away from the beaten track.
    To get the ball rolling....
I remember when... Ok so I won't start with that, but don't expect too much poetic prose or elloquence.
I used to have to use of a mates 250 (I can't even remember the make!) but I do remember we went for a oover to the Wairarapa one fine Saturday. It's funny y'know just cruising along with your buddy on a beautiful fine sunny day and you've got nowhere to go. It's the ride there that's the journey. We shot through to Masterton pretty quickly and grabbed a couple of pies and drinks and hit the road. We turned right at Masterton and headed towards Riversdale Beach. About 1/2 way along (not sure) he took a turn to the right and headed off into the hills. Corners and hills and corners and hills later he stopped and I said "Where the f*ck are we going?" He gets off his bike and says "I'll show ya" Now, he's a good mate with a GF so I had no worries. He goes over to a gate and pushes his bike through.
The bikes are duly parked and locked to a tree (you can never be too careful - even out in the sticks). So off we go strolling along like frikken girl guides - across the fields. I'm starting to think the heats got to him a bit and he says "In here" We'd been walking next to a what looks like a washed out bank. I thought it wa just a hole (washout) but it this cave. I'm not talking Waitomo but this cave was a least big enough to stand up in. I'm starting to think this is a big leg pull and then my eyes start to adjust to the light (or lack of it). I know you may say "Big deal, glow worms" but it was cool.
The whole journey there, the wierd little stroll across the fields, and just a simple thing like some glow worms. We got home about 7:30, had a bbq and some beers in the sun. Not a super speed freak ride, didn't go to the drags, or Sturgis or something - just a great day.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them
