    FZ1/Fazer - Street or Sports

Europe have a choice of two models of the Yamaha FZ1

    The well known stealth machine

    http://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/p.../FZ1_Fazer.jsp

and now a new version that comes under the heading of "Street"

    http://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/p...street/fz1.jsp

Now the question is which one shall I get???

    Interesting choice

The FZ1 is a nice bike and it can make a fair sports-tourer.
Then again, it costs almost half as much again as a Honda Hornet.
I'm prepared to concede that in some ways it may be a slightly better bike than the Hornet but not that much.

The new model looks nice, but I'd be checking all the prices.

    Have fun

FZ1, but then Im a naked bike fan and dont like the look of the semi-faired-ness. Why not ride both and decide?

    HP at crank is 150

RW is 8 more than the current model at 130

Easiest way to reverse the detune is to replace the exhaust, good for an extra 6+HP in the mid range and top end

BTW which one is the sexy one, belue or the 'street'?

Would love to be able to have both though.

Agreed, but the question is will the blue come to NZ or remain in UK/Europe and maybe Australia.

    Still that street looks mighty tempting . . . . . .

I see what all the commotion about the blue is now...that Ocean Depth is most attractive. But is the colour really THAT important?

Having spoken with your wife a couple of times on the odd tour I'd be picking the one that can the MOST luggage cos she ends up carting around most of it.

Not that I can talk. I like the street version , but you may miss the top fairing at times.

The question is, why are we getting shafted on FZ1 prices in NZ?
They're not much dearer than a bandit in Oz. But around 6 - 7 grand more here. That moola will make the Bandit a much better bike than a stock Fazer.
