    Sidecars Owners and The LTNZ

new rules have swept up Side Cars into the catogory of LOW VOLUME Vehilcles which now require LV Certificates before they get a WOF - This has been on the cards for some time - so if you ride a chair. its gunna cost ya.
If you say either "I can" or "I can't" your correct.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Winston is just another Socialist but a better one than the rest of the left, perhaps.
I don't think I could stand another 3 yrs of Helen Clark and her lying cronies. Why is it she can lie through her crooked teeth and all the limp wristed lefties applaud like there was no tomorrow? Perhaps there will be no tomorrow! Alas I have not yet decided which right wing party to vote for but it will definitely be the so called right.

Arrgh. The bastidges. God I hatess them. There goes my scheme to get another chair one day

Still, unless they actually intorduce a WOF for the SIDECAR - just do as we always did, and take the chair off before you go for a WOF. Doubt there would be a VTNZ etc testing station now could test a combo anyway, they hadenough trouble with them 30 years ago

Im suprised it hasn't happened years ago.
Fitting a substantial bit of kit to the side of a bike isn't gonna leave the bike as it was before hand.and some of the hand built frames for sidecars were decidedly rugged

They turned a blind eye for many years because they didn't quite know what to do about it,but I know someone has been doing a study.Thing is,legally a chair is just an attachment, not a permament fixture,so kinda hard to make a rule unless they change the original.Fortunatly most guys who play around with sidecars are enthusiastic and know what they are doing - it's seldon you find a shoddy lashed together outfit....most of mine a burried, but the chassis I made 25 yrs ago is still racing.

    first it was the trikes

now side cars - it wont be long before we get to the situation where anything not factory fitted will be not allowed - such as tyres - only factory fitted - no you cant fit extra lights - etc etc etc
It is on the way I give it about three years

Oh yes,it's on it's way alright - and being pushed ahead of time by idiots who like to make a lot of noise, burnouts, crashing left right and centre.I wish people would learn the value of the cloak of invisability - you can get away with murder if you don't yell about it at the top of your voice.

    Damn right

when these young guys are our age the motorcycle will be a banned method of transport - and if they keep shouting about crashes etc as some do on tis site its demise will happen before we shuffle off.

People who do so should think twice before posting about deeds of bravado or misfortune - always remember places like this can be monitered by people you might not want to see it.

    if that sounds paranoid

it is because I have plenty of reason to be after watching the decline in motorcycling in NZ over the last 40 years, due to regulations, insuance, ACC, etc.

I agree with Mr Lee Rusty, for what it's worth (not much).I think the mototcycle as a means of road transport is doomed - it's just a matter of when the plug gets pilled.

Bloody homolgation - that's what I fear. They have it already in Germany
