Best place in Wellington to get a tyre fixed.

I have contacted Motorad and they have quoted me $42 to repair my rear tyre. Its still inflated but has a staple in it.

I would go ahead with it but they are booked out.

Any ideas for a cheap/good place to get it done? I want a propper job done as I value my saftey.

    On the new toy:

    This was what motorad said:

"Yes we are open on saturdays but unfortunately we have a fully booked day. The next available time would be the following Saturday, 5th of November.

Cost would be $33.75 plus $8.50 for a patch if tubeless"

What sort of a patch is this? Where do they put it and is it safe?

I dont think I want to have a tube.

    Cool

Does Motorad fix tyres only on a Saturday??????

Do they not fix them on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday?

Surely there must be other places around Wellington or just out of Wellington that can fix the tyre without having to wait a week and half to get it fixed.

I take it that you called Motorad because you want service at that end of town. I've never had a tyre repaired by them, but every time I have been to Boyle Bros on Adelaide Rd I have had no issue with the bill or the service. They look a little untidy, but they are always friendly and helpful. And I've never had to wait long for an appointment to get work done.

Just a point. The staple may not have pentatrated further than a millimetre or so.

Hey crashe: this week saturday is the only day I can take it to them and I will really want to be riding saturday and sunday on my new bike!

limbimtimwim: I dont mind what end of town I go to, I just want my tyre to get fixed properly so it stays inflated they just seem like good guys there I have had a few dealings with them.

Colapop: well sort of damb hard to get those girls off my new bike... nah its the edge of my bike cover.

Bonez: I hope your right but I guess it would pay to go somewhere and have them pull it out and check if it needs repairing or not... I would prefer to ride it to the tyre shop

You could be forcing the staple in further by riding on it, causing more damage to the casing.

Yes. If you have the means to get the tire/wheel/bike to a fixit shop should the tire go flat. Remember to highlight the spot just in case. Also check the rest of tire if you haven't already done so. If you look at the left of the tread you'll notice a wee hole, probably the other part of the staple poked in. Have a poke in there with a pair of needle nose pliers, flatterned braising rod or similer just in case a peice of staple is in there as well.
